Called today saying that they are the IRS and that they are filing a lawsuit against me. Also saying that this is my final chance.

202 470-0872 called while I was out and left message stating that they were from IRS and had been trying to get in touch with me (not). Said they were filing a lawsuit against me and had been trying to get in touch with me...never called before today and no written correspondence. Deleted call

Caller left a voice mail claiming to be from the IRS and this was there last attempt to go get ahold me and I was being sued, then I was able to call the number though and some India guy answered asking for someone else and not even related to my phone number and then would hang up on me.

called my mother and claimed to be IRS to shake her down. They hung up on me pretty fast when I called back demanding a name etc.  Shame you don't have an address for this douche....

A Indian sounding guy telling me that I owed $3400 and had to pay immediately or I would be arrested! I was thinking the IRS doesn't make phone calls and would never ask for a payment over the phone

So my call came from 734-843-0000, asking me to call back to 202-470-0872.  For fun, I called back and the guy  said "IRS how may I help you."  I said well I'm returning your call and he said we don't call people.   Weird - thought he was part of the scam but all he kept saying was "The IRS does not call people."

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

I got a call advising me I was being sued by the IRS. Called the number back on a private line. Answered by a person from India. Definately a scam.

Called today.  Went to answer machine.  Same thing the others posted.  I'm being sued by IRS.
their number was 279-511-202-470-0000 and call 202-470-0872.  ARP sends me messages about scams for elderly to watch for.  I must admit I knew it was a robo call and a scam, but it made me feel threatened and uneasy for a while.  Sadly enough, a lot of elderly people take a lot of medication and get confused and could easily be scammed.  Some very evil people out there.

The caller ID showed the call as an Out-of-area call  from 262-920-0000.  I let it go to voicemail, which lists the time of the call and the number the call came from, so there is no doubt which call it was.

It was the same IRS lawsuit scare tactic that others have already reported here, same basic wording by a recorded female voice, with instructions to call 202-470--0872 to get more information.

We have received no mail from the IRS that would suggest this is in any way legitimate, therefore it must be a phishing scam.

Received a voice mail from this number. Same BS as other posters - that the IRS is suing me. Rrrrrrrright....... like the IRS doesn't have an 800 number? Can you say phishing scam? Please don't be stupid enough to call these people back.

Lady call my wife and leave message ask to call her back with this no#202-470-0872 saying she's being used by irs. Ahh first of all we file every yeAr. I guess this must be another scam.

The question is ,why IRS does not look into this 202 470 0872 matter.This person or persons keeps calling any one with this IRS suing threat. I called d No. and the person said please wait and then hung up.

Got a call from 732-414-2627 stating that it was irs saying they have been trying to reach me about a lawsuit being filed against me and to call 202-470-0508 for more information warning to all this is a scam

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Same thing, called me from the same number asking me to call another number(wrong already). I'm being sued? Funny thing is that they never  said my name! When I called the number back the voice mail didn't say I was calling the irs and when I called the number that called back it was disco? Scamm for sure! Google the number to the irs and call them. Do not waste your time calling this number back!

Got a call from a 733 number. That's what tipped me off at first. They left an automated voice mail telling me to call this number.
