- this is a scamclaims that a debit card has been breached
- MOThis number sent me a text message claiming I need to return a phone call immediately as my card at a bank I DO NOT bank at "has been breached" and "blocked." It provides a link to an e-mail address with the # 2024701010@what ever bank they are pretending to be from.org
- cannedyamobvious scam but I'm tempted to call for giggles
- Hustle this| 2 repliesReceived SMS text message to my phone from 2024701010@tscu.org stating:
"Your Tempe Schools Credit Union Debit-Card has been BLOCKED. Contact us immediately at 2024701010"
Obviously this is an identity theft attempt. Trying to find out more information to provide to law enforcement, I called the number and heard a synthesized voice prompting me to enter the 16-digit card number. I entered a random 16-digit number. The voice read the number back to me and asked me to press 1 if correct. I pressed 1, and was told the number was invalid. I did this a second time and a third time with the same results, but at the third attempt, the line disconnected.
This is a phishing attempt designed to harvest card numbers. Reported it to Scottsdale police, DC Metro Police, and Verizon (the landline carrier in DC).
I really hope it gets addressed. - TruthSeeker replies to Hustle thisHustle This, I received the exact same message Saturday afternoon. I was mystified because I had just recently used my card with no problem. It sounded extremely "phishy" to me but I called the number (I was given 1-800-239-8172) just to find out for myself what was going on.
When I dialed the number, there was no identifying information indicating the firm/company/bank associated with the number. It just said "Hello. Thank you for calling our 24-hour security department. To reactivate your card, please press 1. To leave, please press 2." It also said the call may be monitored (they were really trying to play it up). I pressed 1 and was told that I'd be asked to put in my 16-digit card number and would also need to answer some "addtional questions" to reactivate the card. I hung up at that point. I suspect those "additional questions" would have been for the expiration date and the security code on the back of the card.
I checked my account online and everything looked fine. There were no messages or alerts in my mailbox from the bank and that confirmed my suspicions that this is a scam. I'm going to follow suit and call the police later today and contact the credit union on Monday. - jrsent me a text, claiming my debit card had been blocked and to call this number immediately. I do not have a debit card with them... - Amber replies to Hustle thisThanks for Reporting it, I was just looking for somewhere to contact the bank also, but it looks like it's bigger than that...
I used to work in the debit card fraud department at Wells Fargo. EVERYONE- A BANK WILL NEVER EVER ASK YOU TO GIVE THEM YOUR DEBIT CARD/ATM PIN NUMBER NOR WILL YOU EVER BE DIRECTED TO CALL A NUMBER WITH A SIMON SAYS TYPE RECORDING TO ENTER YOUR INFORMATION. DO NOT DO IT!!! IT IS A SCAM TO CLEAR YOUR ACCOUNT. - MAX POWERI recieved a text saying Sun East Federal Credit Union deactivated my debit card, please contact us at 1-202-470-1010.
I don't have a card or account through them so I thought it was a little strange.- Caller: ?

- You're not gonna steal my identityI got the same message from them. It said. saying Sun East Federal Credit Union deactivated my debit card, please contact us at 1-202-470-1010.
I went to the Sun EastFCU website and they're Headquarters is in Texas, but 202 is a Washington D.C. area code. Be careful and don't get trapped. I suggest you check your credit report because they got your phone number somehow. Maybe your information is being leaked out or they open a fraudulant card.- Caller: Sun East FCU
- TruthSeekerI visited my bank to let them know what happened and they told me several customers had already reported the scam. Tempe Schools said they had alerted the authorities and the phone line was shut down. It was traced back to two different countries, Nigeria and Russia.
Tempe Schools also said that it is important that you delete the text message. They said it may be possible that spyware is attached to the text message which may allow the scammers to capture information if you use your phone for doing anything on the Internet, including checking your bank account. - jomGot the text from "Oak Credit" , same crap they have been made aware of a fraudulent attempt, blah blah blah, call this number immediately. yeah Right........
