I also received a call from this number and the man called himself Owen Sanders and said I had won 555K and said he was from the Federal Trade Commission and I had to send him 1300.00 in insurance money for them to send me my check.  The remainder of the insurance money according to him was being paid by the federal government.  Well I was certainly SCAMMED.  I also spoke to a man named George Mead who said he was Owen Sanders supervisor.  The date of the first call was March 10,2009.

Telemarketing fraud is a crime. Criminals use the phone to commit many different types of fraud, including sweepstakes and lottery frauds, loan fraud, buying club memberships, and credit card scams.

Telephone scammers are good at what they do. They say anything and target everyone to try to cheat people out of money. They may call you and imply that they work for a company you trust, or they may send direct mail or place ads to convince you to call them.

Who's Calling? explains several deceptive telemarketing schemes, and how you can protect yourself against them. In short, you can:

Recognize how to identify the most common telemarketing scams.

Report phone fraud to the FTC, providing important information to help law enforcement officials bring scammers to justice.

Register your phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry. Registering can help limit the number of telemarketing calls you receive, so you can be more alert to calls you do get.

Yes, I have been one of the "scammed" individuals, that both of these men have conned me out of insurance money to be sent to Dan Wahlert in Rock Springs, Tx.  If anyone hears anything more about these two con artists, then please report them.  They have two numbers to call, and the other one was supposed to be from US sweespstakes and fulfillments and it is not!! (866) 978-7488. The woman that now answers it is saying it is an FTC number, and again this is a lie, it is one of the fruadulent numbers that George Mead gave me.  How embarrassing this is!!
