Called from this number, identified themselves as the IRS, notify IRS is suing me and to call that number. I did NOT.

Got same call. I hate these scum bags. Get a life losers. I will be reporting this.

Left a phone message that a lawsuit was being filed against me.  I dialed back the 202-407-5938#  Identified himself as Shawn Marshall ID# (I forgot to write down the number)   let a phone # of 202-987-5017 to call back.   Claimed there was a lawsuit against me, Case #DC40618.  Needed to give my Social Security # to open up the file.  Would not refer me to his supervisor.  Glad I didn't give him my number.  Pretty scarey.

Phone message stating that it's their final attempt to contact me and the IRS is initiating a lawsuit. Except I happen to know they aren't initiating any lawsuit. Ignored the call, clearly a phishing attempt for my social.

2024705938, same as previous comments.  Didn't call back.  Was an automated message generated from a computer.

said the IRS was assembling a law suit against me and to call this specific number. I didn't have time to write the number down so I attempted to call back the server said I did not have service privileges to complete this call and to call my service provider to obtain these privileges at an additional cost to complete the call. I did not pursue this however I looked online to find out why would a government agency not have a toll free number and saw many scams from this number.

Digital voice left message saying that: "this is call is official final notice from IRS, Internal Revenue Service.  The reason of this call is to inform you that IRS is filling lawsuit against you.  To get more information about this case file, please call immediately on our department number 202-470-5938, I repeat 202-470-5938, thank you."
There was never a first attempt, not official notice through the mail or otherwise.  It is not identified who the lawsuit is against....."you" is not specific enough when leaving a message.  After looking this number up here, I think I will file a complaint with my police department.

I work for the IRS. this is a scam. this is not how we reach out to people or conduct or duties. the funny thing is that they contacted someone who works in the fraud department within the IRS. they hung up after I reported that this matter will be investigated.

I got the call from 1-202-470-5938 saying a law suit had been filed against me.  When i called back he identified himself of course with an accent as eric johnson, badge no. 105a and case number 40816.  Said it was on taxes back from 2003 to 2008. He said someone would be coming to my house and sieze my house, car and bank account and everything i owned.

2 phone calls with a recorded message from the IRS saying I needed to call back immediately to avoid my case being forwarded to the court for prosecution.  I hung up on the first, but decided to listen to the second to see what they said...then hung up.  I did not call them back.  My 92 year old mother got these calls about a month ago.  I told her to ignore them.

The IRS NEVER calls those they are targeting for audits, etc. They use CERTIFIED MAIL. Best not to pick up the calls, then BLOCK!

Never fall for ANYTHING like this, ever!   If anyone asks for your social security number or any personal information, tell them to F-off, they are looking for people to cheat and steal from.... don't be a fly in a spider's web.

Luke Marshall badge number 9216820 calls saying I owe IRS $4965.00 back taxes. He is going to send police to arrest me and take my drivers license and bank cards if I don't agree to pay the debt. Says mail carrier has visited 3 times to serve law suit but I didn't answer door. He assumes I am running away. Says he will send payment method instructions tomorrow in the mail. I hope he does and I can track him down with it.

Mail carriers do NOT deliver summons.  This caller is such a LIAR!!  The police are not coming and he can not take your license or money.  I'll bet he will refuse to give the company name & address as well as who the original debt was with.

Don't waste your time with this "person"  He has violated several points of the FDCPA - and is not with the IRS.!

Automated threatening call claiming to be from the IRS.  Nothing but a SCAM.  I did not call back.

Is there a law enforcement agency that can pursue and prosecute these scum?

Report the call via the IRS website.  Then block the number.

I got the same call 2 days in a row now, call 202 470-5938. I filed a complaint with IRS after the first call, and they obviously do NOTHING. Got 2 more calls after my complaint.
