Got a call today saying that a case has been filed against me by the FDIC and the cops would be at my door step if I do not act within an hour. I felt like they faked accent. Sounded very unprofessional.

Got a call from what was flashed on my cell phone as 911. They left me a message to call back 202-470-6070 and speak to an officer. The officer (spoke with a thick accent) said we needed to pay money now or there would be cops at my door.....i called up local sherrif and they told that is was certainly a fake call and asked me to hang up which i did .....

Yes, i got the same call asking for $2500. This time they were calling on behalf of Financial Crimes and Enforcement Network. Funny he called it Financial Claims and Enforcement Network. Should he not know the name of the agency he works for?

I had this incident today , such a fake call trying to make it sound real and pranking it from 911 . This john schmaker guy is an idiot asking me to pay 2700$ on phone or 27,000 later ...

Got a voice message from 911, a woman spoke and said, a federal complaint was filed against me by the department of Financial crimes and enforcement network. I was told to call back 202-470-6070 and ask for officer Tom O'Brien. When i called back the number, this guy said i owed $3800 to the IRS, for some back taxes from 2009. I could either pay him now or will be arrested. He told me to go to the nearest Drug store and buy Green dot money cards for $3800. He told me to be on the phone with him while i got those cards.
When I disconnected my phone, i got a call from 808 244 6400, number claiming that they are from the maui police department and i should call Mr.O'Brien immediately.

I have never heard of Green dot money cards, and i thought it was some kind of government card. I was stupid enough to go the store, to buy the cards. When i checked them, they looked like regular gift cards. So i told him, it sounds like a scam and i am going to the local police station. At that time he hung up. I went to the local police station, to check if there were any complaints against me, they checked and said there was none.

When i googled the 202-470-6070 number, it brought me here. Interestingly 808 244 6400, is really a Maui police station number.

Exact same story but with different name and department. I got call on july 5th 2013 and caller ID said 911. Lady with thick accent claimed to be calling from State police and person named George Michael made a complain against me and I should call number 202-470-6070 which belonged to George Michael. If not I will get arrested.

When  i called number a guy with an accent told me that he is from IRS and I owe $2600 to IRS. He gave me 1 hour and asked me to goto Walmart and call him from there. By now i felt it was scam and called IRS to confirm if i owe any money to IRS answer to which was negative.

The worst part was the mental torture I went through to figure out if this was scam or real thing. I made a complain with TIGTA. See the link below which will help you connect to this department.

Some one from sherrifs office they called and told to call john shumaker [***] on the number 202-470-6070 with the case id and talk to him who has issued a arrest warrant. After IC called he told i need to pay 2100 for IRS and i need to make payment right now with in 30 mins if not i will get arrested. I called IRS and confirmed I dont owe them anything. Its total scam be careful....

I got the same call from number 202 470 6070. lady sounded indian, but was trying hard to fake an american accent . She even deliberately mispronounced my name to make it look like she couldnt pronounce it and it looked like she forgot the script in between,!! I realized it was a scam immediately because the police don't call people and tell them to call another number, they come straight to your house!  this website confirmed it. ignore the call and get on with your life.

even I got the same call from officer names john shoemaker...i verified it with IRS & it is fake call..

first i got a call from local sheriff number asked me to call on this number 202-470-6070, he said he got compliant about me from federal office. and gave the contact person Holfman, i called that number they said officer is out for the day and i can check with them.they clain to be calling me from FinCen.gov,  i got suspicious so i hAanged up and did the little research on this number and sure enough, this was fraud, Also on FinCen.gov site and there was alert on their site warning people about the fraud calls...

Exactly the same story. Same name John Schumaker called and asked about money through Green dot cards through 7-11 stores. Before the call I got a call from 713-755-6044 saying that he is Sheriff and need to talk to John Schumaker at 202-470-6070 or else I will be arrested. I was just going to buy the cards but did not get from the store and then I googled the number and found the story. But finally I also got a call from 972-721-2600 telling me her name as Anne Petterson and she is police officer and if I don't pay then will get arrested. Interestingly the number belongs to City Hall. But at the end I could figure out the scam and called real Irving Police and handed over the information.

My wife got a call from 1911 number asking for me and that there are some charges against me, they asked her that i should give them  a callI  on 2024706070 within 45 min. The moment my wife conveyed this information, i found out that it is a fraud number from googling . I also called up the local Police station to inform them of this  call. They asked me to ignore and report it to BBB.

I was stupid enough to pay to this john shumaker... this came from same number 202-470-6070. So please don't pay just the phone and report to police

I got a voice message from the same number +1-911 twice. I tried to call but they did not answer so I tried to do a reverse phone look up on the number 202-460-6070 and found this link.

Yes, I got a call once last week and a voice message today that I have to pay money because someone filed something against me.
It is definitely fake.

A lady Eddie Brown called from number (682) 229-2400 claiming she is from Hudson Oaks Police Dept . She said I have committed federal offense and if i don't call the number  202 -470- 6070 and talk to officer Steven Fox within 45 mins they will issue arrest warrant in name and a  sheriff will arrest me. Then when I called  the number ,he said he is  O Brain the officer working on my case, and I have committed a IRS fraud  and asked me  my zip code and said to pay $1999  by  purchasing government card  from Rite Aid Drug store nearby. He threatened me saying if  hang the phone they will order shoot at site on me !!! I figured out its a scam  and  said them to  issue the warrant and shoot out orders i don't care, he immediately disconnected the phone.

Same thing happened to me a few minutes ago. Until they hung up the call as I didn't budge to give my credit card / debit card number, I was in intense pressure and mental torture not able to decide whether the call to me was genuine or fake. These people should be booked and brought to justice.
