Scammers called my granddaughter from this number using an IRS scam.  She's in college and was told she was overdue w/IRS for some special student tax and was about to be arrested.  She was told this guy would help her out of it, but she was not to tell anyone about his call - said he'd meet her to pick up the money but I'm guessing it would have ended up w/wire transfer.  She was basically terrified until her mother finally got the story out of her.

I didn't answer this call and they left no voicemail, but I got a call right after it where the caller did exactly what lintx just described (student loan scam). I suggest blocking the number if possible.

I got a call and he knew my name my phone number and where I went to college. Tried to tell me I was being sued but wouldn't tell me any other details, said he was from the federal government but wasn't specific on that either, and then literally told me to FINGER myself and called me a [***] when I told him that the information didn't seem legitimate and that I wasn't answering any of his questions until I knew what the call was about. Was so mad I hung up.

This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

I received a call on my cell phone from this phone number.  A woman with a heavy accent asked to speak to my college aged daughter.  When I told her that I was her mother and asked what I could help her with, she hung up.  Won't answer that call again.

I received a voice message on my cell phone from someone with a heavy accent claiming to be "Officer Shawn Tyler(?)" from "Federal Law enforcement" telling me that I had a complaint filed "on my name" and telling me to call him back at this number.  Message said that the issue was time-sensitive and that I should call back before they took further legal action.  I've tried calling the number several times and it continues to ring without anyone answering it and no way to leave a message.

I received the exact same call as the first person but instead of extorting money from me this guy told me he knew i was a [***] and wanted to know my price for a [***] or to "beat him off". He told me not to call the police or he'd send someone to my house to arrest me. I just filed a police report.

Hi, I also received a call from this number.  They left a message and it was very muffled… something about the IRS and complains using my identity.

Scam call. Someone who called me by my first name and claimed they were a law enforcement officer. Right after they said that I said "I know you're a scammer" and hung up on them. No response afterward.

The caller claimed to be IRS and I owed $1400 in "student tax" - a one time tax.
I said I didn't he was legit and he told me to hang up then. I asked what this was about and said I would contact my tax professional. They hung up with no goodbye.
