- Slim replies to Sudue| 1 replyThere is a fairly common IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.
USA tax payers should read this:

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

- BecsYes, got same call. Came through on Caller ID as "Zenovia Perez" 717-201-3276 and a recorded message said to call 202 503 9951. I called the 717 number and it went to a voicemail for Zenovia, so I left an anonymous message in case she's a real person and is unaware they're using her line (although I realize she may be part of the scam).
Thanks for being out here! I appreciate the service (of keeping me from freaking out) that your website provides! :)- Caller: supposed IRS
- DBHad an automated message left on the answering machine saying we are being sued by the IRS. At no time is our name mentioned or a contact person or file number which to me screams scam. Just asks to call 202 503 9951, I changed my cell to private caller and tried the number. The mail box is full.

- Southern Oregon ResidentWe got an automated message left on our home phone saying that they had tried to reach us many times and that this was their final call to say we were being sued by the IRS. I'm not sure what the caller ID was on this message because we rarely check our messages on our home phone. They said to call the department 202... 5039951. When I wrote it down I realized it was a phone number but the message they left made it sound like a file #. So I went to google and found these posts!!! I am so GRATEFUL and THANKFUL for people taking the extra step and time, to share and communicate their experiences about what's going on with this specific issue. So I'm shouting out a HUGE THANK YOU to the service of this site, the people who created it and ALL the people who make it a community resource. xoxoxo

- Tom OC CaliforniaYes received a call claiming an IRS law suit from 717-201-3276 with caller ID and message Perez Zenovia and thank you for allowing this post. Remember even if you think your family or best bud is calling you for money it usually is a scam with lots of drama and discounts for immediate payment or cash wiring, also do not settle for a monthly automatic payment. If the IRS truely wants to settle an amount with you remember to say whatever the amount is that you cannot afford it so it is as low as possible because they will take out there money after you get your next refund.
