Seems like fraud

Scanner! Portraying themselves as a division of the IRS! Trolling for personal info (asked for my lawyer info) saying I owed back taxes, and was facing a year in jail? Straight B.S.

This guy says he is an IRS agent and they're working with local Sheriff's Department to issue an arrest warrant to catch me because I did not respond to their notice and phone calls and because I willfully miscalculated IRS taxes. My wife was also scared when she checked their recorded phone messages at home and urged me to return their call quickly.  I was astonished for a minute and then realized it should be a scam and found it is.  He has a strong Indian accent and couldn't understand what he was saying unless really paying attention to it.

Just got a call from this number. Automated message. Scared me. Realized if was a scam.

Just got the same call. Scared me at first but then I realized I always pay my taxes and double check them it was not possible. My neighbor is an auditor and she said if I was going to be contacted it would be through the mail not the phone.  I just called Wells fargo bank because they wanted the back tax money posted to Wells fargo bank and now they are on alert and are going to get word out to their tellers to look for strange transactions and hopefully save any elderly or young  people who might fall into this trap.

Got a voice mess, saying it is the IRS, , got sceard at first why calling me on my cell. You guys low life trying to prey on people, I wish you get ratten in jail and no one will bail you out.

Just got the same call.  Says to leave a message, but mailbox is full.  I think they want personal information.

I called it says mailbox is full...They say they are with the IRS.

Terrifying phone call! A man with a very strong indian accent(and a lot of background noise) said that he needed more information from me and that I needed to contact my criminal attorney before they send the police to my house to arrest and imprison me. I hung up on him and freaked out for a second, though I have never committed any crimes. Then I googled the number, thankfully. It's a scam but I can't tell what they are really trying to get.

I got the Voice Message on Monday I called back for 3 days not able to get through. Finally get the Indian dude on the phone he basically told me I had a Lawsuit being file today for tax fraud and that papers were being file in 30 minutes and that the sheriff's would be at my door tomorrow to take me to jail for 5 years. All my property would be seized accounts frozen Drivers license revolted. It just so happens that I do have back taxes that I have been working on with a IRS Agent for several months. So this guy really had me going. After pleading with him he goes to speak with a supervisor to ask for more time or chance to pay. Comes back with DENIED. I plead again an he offers for me to talk with the supervisor...long story short he was a rude nasty SOB from india too name John Anderson (REALLY?)  who wanted to give me 1 hour to pay $6400 or else. After the call i spoke to MY IRS lady and she confirmed it to be a scam!! I hope they get found and rot in jail!!

I got the same call this morning when we called back he said that I committed a tax fraud. Unless I pay $4800+ they would proceed with the criminal charges and have me arrested and also seize my assets for the next 5 years. I got a little suspicious and asked him to give an hour to confirm from my CPA. But, he said he can not wait and as soon as he hangs up the phone the arrest warrant would be issued against me. I told him to go ahead and do so and hung up the phone. I immediately called my CPA and left a message for her and waiting for her reply.

Got a call at 6:48 AM on my cell.  Was alarmed but figured it was a scam. I always pay my taxes.  I called my attorney who said the IRS always contacts my MAIL.  If they don't hear from you, they subpoena you through personal service.

I got a voice mail from this number...  saying from the IRS and I needed to call back ASAP.  Not going to call back.. I am a CPA and I KNOW this is not how the IRS conducts business.  I also decided to google this number just to see if anyone else got the call too :)

Hate this silly scams!!

Got the same message about an hour ago. Scam artists. I am not falling for it. Folks, report these to the IRS and do not call back. The IRS will always notify you in writing by mail. Not a phone call and not an email.

Getting ridiculous.

I wasted an hour of this so called IRS man's time yesterday 😁 he told me i had committed fraud on my taxes and that if I did not pay 8050. By the end of the day is warrant would be a placed for my arrest.I do have a payment plan going at this time with the IRS so this made no sense to me. He told me that he had to say on the phone well I went to the bank. it had to be cash then I was just go to a grocery store like Safeway or Albertsons and get a voucher for the IRS. I told him I could not do this as my mother lives with me  she is an amputee and could not be left alone that I would handle it and get back to him he was rude would not let me talk started yelling things that I had to do this today or else the police are going to come get me and then my mother with me be alone. While we were on the phone I googled the 202 phone number thank goodness for people out there free court stuff like this. I told him I knew this was a stem and I hung up the phone repeatedly called my number 18 times which of course I did not answer I finally had to turn my phone off. At 4 o clock the following morning I get it all done at 800 number I answer it and the same man was on the other handcomplaining to me about how much of his time I had wasted yesterday. WTF!! I said if you transferred and hang up the phone it was going to call back the 800 number that he called from and if I pay the IRS and that they were closed until 8 o'clock in the morning. If man is determined and he is tricky. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!

The IRS does not initiate any legal action over the phone. The scammers use voice over IP lines (in this case magicjack (Ymax corporatiion). This is against the company's terms of use and can lead to termination of their contract. However only law enforcement can initiate the contact if you yourself are not a customer. So report it also to your local law enforcement agency. Ultimately this is a case for the FBI legal attache in Islamabad. If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction (and the NSA can finally be a force for good).
