It's lengthy, but it explains a lot about this type of scam and why the scammers often use magicJack numbers. - hello| 1 replyI got the same call. The number called one and didn't want to give up after the first nor left a voicemail, then called again so I picked up to see what it was about. Apparently he claims himself as an officer and from IRS and demands to repeat the number that I had taken down... Yeah pretty suspicious. Be careful all.
- Caller: IRS Washington DC
- Jerr replies to helloI received the same call. I would love to get an address to go visit him in person.
- spencerGot a call and it sounded like it was from some Indian call center insisting that it was the IRS. Glad people listed on this website.

- Ms| 1 replyReceived a message claiming he is from the IRS and asked for an immediate call back . I did , and another person answered claiming he is an IRS offices but it was not the same name who left the message , he requested the phone number that I received the call at and he confirmed by name , then asked me to listen and not to interrupt, he said I did not declare all of my income and IRS is taking legal action and police are on there way to arrest me , he asked If I have a lawyer, also threatened that IRS will block all my bank accounts , properties and inform my employer He had an accent and sounded like a VoIP call..
- FB replies to JosephYes 200% scam. IRS will NEVER call you. If they want to get in touch with you, they will send a letter in the mail.
- DaFoxJust to clear up one slight error with the advise offered by the regulars here:
The IRS does make phone calls.
Yes, the IRS will initiate contact via a phone call at times. They will, however, have already sent a USPS mail.
So just stating "The IRS doesn't call you" isn't 100% accurate.
That said, if you get ANY form of communication from the IRS, STOP!
If by text, email, social media, fax = Always a scam. Jump to below.

The guy's English was so bad I barely understood the telephone number on my voicemail. I am sure it's a scam.
- NickThe guy is reading off a script.
- DC| 1 replyHere's the voicemail I received as transcribed by Comcast:
"This message is intended for {my name} the very second you receive this message I need you or your region attorney off record to return the call. Issue at hand is extremely time sensitive. My name is John Davis from investigation Bureau Department of {unintelligible} and hotline to my division is 2025069166. I repeat it's 2025069166 {unintelligible} or disregard this message and do return the call as soon as possible before any legal litigation take place. Anyhow {unintelligible} that it's an efficiency in your income tax so goodbye and take care."
As others mentioned, it is a man with a heavy Indian accent.
I have so many questions:
• How come John Davis sounds like Apu from the Simpsons?
• Why do none of the words John Davis uses make any sense when used together?
• Will the efficiency in our income tax be used for good and not for evil?
• If I don't respond the very second I get the message, will everything be destroyed?
• Is there a type of litigation that is illegal?
I'm kidding. This is totally scammy and I feel sorry for anyone who falls for it. - ericbabbling something in heavy Jamaican (west indies) accent about the IRS, just about unintelligible except for vague threat not to call back
