Was left an ominous seeming message with 202-506-9216 showing in the caller ID saying to cal back to 202-506-9044 "the second you receive this message" The person who left the message said his name was Richard Brown of the Internal Revenue Service.  His English was only intelligible with great difficulty.  We have no issues with the IRS.  Obviously these are crooks trying to scare old people out of their money! Beware!

Voicemail message left on home phone from a supposed officer Hannah Gray stating that I should call back immediately before the IRS takes any legal action against me.  The message was a recording.  This is a scam!  Don't call back or give out any personal info.

The IRS would contact you by mail if there was a problem and not leave vague messages.

They just called me.  They knew my home address!  I was so scared what they were telling me that I was going to have all my assets frozen, my license suspended, and possible 5-year jail time!  They were very close in getting my banking information until the guy asked persistantly how much money was in my bank account.  I googled the number and found this.  THANK GOD!!

Put me down for one of these calls today. I foolishly tried to call the number, but fortunately the call did not go through. I should have googled the number first, then I would have learned from this page not to bother.

    Thanks 800notes!

Same James guy answered when I called.  The more I talked to him the more fishy it got.  He kept putting me on hold, and I'm sure it was because he was trying to scam multiple callers at the same time.  He claimed I owed $6889.56 to IRS and the cops will be showing up to lock me up.  After he returned on the phone from another hold, I told him that I was recording the conversation.  He asked me how I was recording the call, to which I answered tat I dont need to tell him this info.  Then he hung up.  It's a scam.
