Obviously a fraud/ scam.
Reported to be with IRS, computer generated voice wants you to call back or legal action will be taken.
I reported this to the real IRS and FBI.

Got a computer generated call this morning.  My sister also got a call from the same number.
I'm certain it is a scam of some sort, nothing about it seems legit.

I received this computer generated call TWICE today. Def a scam. Caller claims to be an IRS agent and that you should not ignore the call and call back before they take legal action against you.

Same as above. Message for me to call back or legal action. Called, someone hung up right away then always busy

Actually they weren't even smart enough to threaten legal action, but rather threatened legal "allegation" whatever that is....

Got same message as others - call back or legal action would be taken.  Always a busy signal.  I was only calling back to tell them to leave me alone, but never got an answer.  Could hardly understand the person - foreign.  Said from internal revenue service - but with other broken English - only could understand where she said "call back or legal action would be taken".

Got the same message as everyone else.I spoke with the person and just as described they were hard to understand. As soon as I asked for something in writing they hung up.

These calls are not coming from the IRS.

They are coming from cowardly criminals hiding behind a magicJack device plugged in at some God-forsaken corner of the world where there is Internet service.  They simply use a magicJack device and your fear the same way a common thief uses a toy pistol hidden in the pocket of his overcoat to make a bulge that looks like a real gun.

You can verify that this is a magicJack number by searching for it at http://www.phonevalidator.com .

The IRS phone scam has been extensively researched at
http://www.pindropsecurity.com/consumer-fraud ... irs-phone-scam/ and it was found that magicJack numbers are frequently used, and many of the scammers are operating out of India.  There is even an audio recording of a call returned to one of these numbers and a written transcript of the recording contained in links from the Pindrop Security blog.

MagicJacks are readily obtainable outside of the United States for about $100 US and can come with up to a year of free calling to the U.S. and Canada.  In India, see, for example,

So it doesn't take long to turn a profit, even if only 0.1% of the people they call are stupid enough to believe the scammers.

In addition to the regular reporting channels, e.g., the Department of the Treasury, the FTC, and/or your local state attorney general's office, you might also report the abuse to YMAX Corp.  This corporation is a fully-owned subsidiary of the company that sells magicJacks and is in charge of assigning telephone numbers to magicJack devices.  I have seen reports that they are pretty good at responding to complaints and may be able to permanently shut off a magicJack device, if necessary, so that it can never be used again.

Computer generated vocemail to my number "IRS calling you for important legal action, please call back asap" such fraud

received the same message. Called back and received a busy signal

These idiots turned my life upside-down for a few hours, I'm glad I figured it out as soon as I did. I am an older woman and was very scared of what was about to happen. said they were IRS and they were going to freeze my accts  & take my assets like house, car. I was so worried.

Total BS, I received the same call from the same Indian accented drone. Couldn't even make out what line of BS he was saying. Informed me that file would be uploaded into somewhere and a arrest warrant will be issued. Informed me I would go to prison for five years blah, blah, blah.  
Tried to act tough but then asked my location.  Your the IRS figure it out! Hang up on these dirt bag scam artists.

Just got the phone cal from the same number for my dad. Threatened all kinds of legal action against him...he needs to call back immediately!  They'll be waiting a while...HE DIED 8 YEARS AGO!!! !

Called them back and listened to the garbage.  Told me "wait one hour and the police will come to arrest you".
I could hear several other voices (all with same foreign accent) in the background and all were saying the same thing.
When I did not react he told me to pray to Jesus to save me.
