claim to be IRS and directed me to call them back....WTF  what a joke!

I just got a call and called back, claimed I was $6000 short in back taxes, untrue, and claimed I would be arrested today and put in jail.

Auto VM from this #, american, said she was officer with IRS. Returned call they said looking for someone with same last name and # but different first name. All ppl i talked to weren't american even the so called VM system. I worked with IRS for a spell and told them its a federal crime to do what they are doing....hung up on me and disconnect every call thereafter. Scam scam scam. Unless of course IRS is outsourcing everything nowadays.....even scarier thought

They called me and threatened arrest. We got disconnected and I called back. I had to have the guy "Dre" read the charges to me very slowly, due to his thick Indian accent, finally he asked if my ssn last 4 was 4478 and of course it wasn't so he apologized... these guys suck...

I work for a tax company and one of our clients just got a call from Heather Gray stating that she (Heather Gray) is from the IRS. I called her back on behalf of our client to see what the IRS agent wanted. These people have a very heavy accent and are very aggressive. THEY ARE NOT THE IRS!!!!!!!! This Is A Total SCAM!

There is a fairly common IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers in both Canada and the USA.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

I have a message from these fraudsters recorded at 8:59 am PDT today. It's an automated woman's voice identifying herself as Officer Havagray (not sure of name) of the IRS. She urges action because the matter is "extremely time sensitive." I'm not planning to return the call.

Glad you got the name as it was garbled on my recording. Got to love the sign-off right after she says not to hesitate calling "before we take any legal allegation against you." It is "Good-bye and take care"! All signs that the callers may be from out of the country.

They are Indian scammer/extortionists.  Ignore them.  Accent should be a dead giveaway.

Claimed to be IRS and owe money.  SCAM!

Please shut them down they claimed they were the IRS and used my first name like they were familiar to me.  I yelled at them and they hung up.

I got a message from someone Gray (indiscernible) last night saying that I owe $6,310 in back taxes and would be arrested today, they had heavy accents and told me a sheriff would be at my house tonight. WTF

He gave me a street and said to leave the money and if I didnt he would take legal action

I got a call from this # I called back they said they were from the irs told them they had the wrong #. Then he want to ask me for a date??????  I said what does a date has to do with the irs????  A scam

Just got a call/voice message from Heather Gray stating she is an officer for the IRS and I need to call back before they take legal action. I tried to call back and it went to a voice mail and the person had a heavy European accent. Obviously I didn't leave a message. I have paid my taxes. It is a big load of crap. So tired of the scams, why don't people get a real job and a real life.
