Caller with a very heavy accent claimed to by calling fron the U.S. Government Grant Department and said his name is Michael Jordan.  I found it amusing that since it's hard enough to get government official to work on a weekday, why would this guy be calling me on the Saturday before Easter.

The DNC is a database for telemarketers and the complaints are a database for all agency's to use. It can't protect from scammers, frauds and illegal telemarketers. Charity's, political calls and some survey's are exempt. Survey's that try to sell at the end of the survey are not exempt. Debt collections do not fall under the DNC since they have their own laws, the FDCPA. And I would imagine the real feds and government would not fall under it either since its aimed at telemarketing. Even the charity's and survey's can get into trouble if they cross the lines though.

Received call from this number supposedly government grant dept he said that the government want to give me money for being a good citizen right. I listen to the pitch that I would receive $7,000 dollar I was very quite and the guy said are you ok with that to which I replied they have my address send me a check and a letter explaining why I am receiving this money. His response was they could not send me a check because they have had problems with the mail and people getting there checks. I told him to send me a gift card then I asked what is it exactly do  you need from me and before you answer please understand I will not give credit card information bank card or banking account information so now what is that you need. The person hung up and I never got another call for the rest of the day I will keep you posted if the company should call back however I am on the do not call registry and it seams like I get more call after registering then I did before I registered.  How strange

I just received a call from this number stated that I have been selected for a $7000 grant that I never have to pay back. I informed the caller that this was a scam and he said no ma'am but immediately hung up. Every since I applied for a loan about two years ago I receive several calls a year like this shouldn't this be illegal?

I received the call from these people asking for my father.   He has been dead 15 years and my cell which they called on was not even around then.  The called, heavy accent lots of background noise stated that my father filled out a survey in March of 2013 and therefore was eligible for this grant money.  I get the scam idea, give me your bank account and I will wire you the money but how did they even put our names together, mine was changed in 1990 and there is no way he had anything to do with my cell phone.  I smell a rat.

Scammers don't abide by the do not call list.  Typically these are not even originating in the US, it just looks like it.  Do not call only can work on legitimate businesses if you try to enforce it.
