they had my ss number

I got a phone call from this number saying that i was approved for a government grant of $15,000. I just had to make a $99 donation through western union to a man named Hanish Gupta over in India. It was going to fund children who have lost their parents. Once i did that i would be given my Grant money.  I feel so stupid for doing it but, i did and once I transferred the money they told me that my grant would be wired to my account but i need to pay $299 as a wiring fee that the bank charges. I then new it was a fraud and hung up to try and cancel my transaction through western union but the money had already been picked up.... I am filing a police report and trying to get my money back.  I should have typed the number into google before paying anything... this sucks!

Just got approved for 15000 dollars, ya that sure would help pay off my loans. Stop harassing phone calls from dept collectors, when she stated read me back my information I always ask where they are callin from, a pause and then a studder she read off my address the street and then she said city I lived in was Disneyland right then it had to be a scam only Walt lived in the wonderful world of Disneyland, I remember telling that to an Indian woman a year ago and I started askn what is going on here you told I live in an amusement park so told her I moved to Long Beach Queen Mary. Lol the next time they read me my info. I will not be fooled by a curry eaten fool! What was tripping is that I rev call and it came up right where she said she was callin from Washington D.C.? Is it a redirection spot or is the site I rev. calls in on the scam?

I receved a call today with the same info, granting me $15k, to call this number.  I am so glad that I looked it up before I called.  I have heard of these number charging thousands per minute, and I wanted to make sure it wasn't one of them.  I won't proceed with the call now.  Thanks.

I just received the same phone call, I haven't called the number back and now I won't.. They didn't ask for any money..... And I have placed my phones on the National Do Not Call List....

I received a call to my home from "the federal government" (AKA: a woman with a thick Indian accent) with my name and an address I lived at until a few months ago. They told me that I qualified for a $7000 grant through the government. They verified my phone number, name and address (asking for my new one since I told them I had moved). They had all the right info and then they told me that I needed to tell them how I was going to spend my money because the money was not to drink or buy drugs with nor was it to be used to gamble with. "Acceptable uses are paying bills, home renovation and purchasing a home or car". THEN the kicker came: due to a rise in mail fraud and people relocating because of the economy, they would be willing to wire me my money in the next hour....to my checking, savings or credit card account. Since I had told her previously I would be using it to pay bills, she offered to send it straight to the credit card I planned on paying off. This would get me my money fast (like my tax returns) and it would save them from having to deal with return checks and re-issuance due to no forwarding of official mail. When I refused to give them my account number, they gave me this phone number and a "confirmation code" and told me that I needed to call right away as the person at that number was actually her senior manager and he was the only one who had the authority to get me my money. I made a comment about how interesting it was that SHE was going to give my money had I given her my account number, but because I balked at giving my account info, suddenly only her sr. manager could give it to me. She rattled off the info again and told me I needed to call right away and to keep calling if it comes up busy as there are lots of people calling him to get their grant money and then hung up on me. NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a call from this number few times, stating that they work with IRS, which I work with a company that closely inter act with the IRS board. This a joke don't fall for it...

Just got a call saying I need a lawyer being sued by irs lady with thick Indian accent identified herself as an irs agent.

Received a call from this number claiming to be IRS. Said I committed tax fraud and tax evasion. Threatened me with a warrant/arrest and jail time. Wanted partial payment to freeze the warrant and arrest. Asked if I had the money and if it was in my bank account. When I challenged her and said I wasn't giving her any info and she might not even be in this country she said she would be issuing a warrant and hung up.

Said they were IRS

Ya stated she was working for IRS and that i needed a criminal lawyer fraud and tax evasion and they called for two days leaving me a message to get ahold of them it was important i called back and they clearly couldnt keep the situation straight so i called my attorny and she said it was not real it was a scam

There is a widespread IRS (or CRA) or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both USA and Canadian residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

They called saying they were the crime investigating department of the IRS. Wanted to settle because they were going to arrest me if I didn't. Sounded like they were from Over seas. Bunch of idiots running that scam.  she gave her name as Amy Logan ID # LE106154 with her broken English. She finally hung up on me.

Called and said i was delinquent on my taxes

The caller identified herself as Kristin Mathew IRS investigator.  She asked me if I have a criminal lawyer who could represent me in the unpaid tax case.  When I called back the number, someone else with overseas heavy accent answered the phone.  Miss Kristin was not available.  The guy told me I will be contacted by an investigator soon.

lady Said with the IRS and I needed to call her supervisor about an issue. they have called a dozen times lately.

I got a call from lady with a thick Indian accent saying I was being sued by the IRS for tax invasion and that I need a lawyer. Then started reading me all my charges saying all my assets were going to be seized and my bank accounts. I am pregnant and don't need this [***]. Someone please stop her! The only reason I know this is fraud because of this website. The actually IRS is no help. I couldn't get ahold of any one there to help me find out anything. I believed this women, good thing we got disconnected!

Hey that's crazy, I just received a phone call from 2025597926 and it was a lady named Jessica Brown saying she was calling from the IRS with broken English.  Then she said that her manager would call me back, when I asked what her manager's name was it was "Amy Logan" also, so she is a manager and a telemarketer.

I received a similar call from the same number.

Got a call from this number claiming to be the IRS; called their bluff and told them they were full of [***]. They hung up. I called the number back; they answered with "Sr. Officer Lopez of the IRS." Told her I didn't think this was legitimate; retort, "I don't have time for this" and hung up. Wow! Bagged again.
