- Petri| 3 repliesCalling my number as well with hang up upon picking up. Called back the number and a guy with a foriegn accent identifying himself as Ethan McKoy with ID Badge 2359 of the Criminal Investigation division of the IRS is trying to say that there is a case against my filing. Guy asked for my last 4 of the SSN and it started becoming suspect... Once he sensed my suspicion in telling him this does not sound legit, he immediately have me the real IRS 1-800 number. Be careful!

- AyfI stopped answering calls from numbers that I don't recognize. They left me a recorded message on my voice mail. The message was not so clear, but I heard "sensitive and confidential" mixed up in one word, and then I heard the word audit. At the end the voice said the I need to call that number. The message sounded like a computer reading a poorly typed text.

- Floyd BlakeGot a call from someone who identified himself as Frank Miller as a government consumer protection agent (?). Wondered why I had not responded to mails that my personal information had been hacked. I said I did not get any mail on this subject. He said my personal information had been hacked. Megamillions had been hacked and my personal information had been revealed/hacked. He verified my address (not hard information to get) and said I should have been notified. He suggested I call Megamillions at 702-628-9594 and to call him back at 202-568-9594 to tell him what they told me. I told him Megamillions would have no reason to have my information, not a big winner or anything, never sent them information. He said maybe my wife did and I said no she did not. He gave me a government security code of GOV-1120 to use in phone call back to him. After hanging up, I looked this number (202-568-9594) up and saw these posts.

- From Florida| 1 replyThey are at it again.
I received 2 calls from this number saying they are from the Consumer Affairs Fraud Department. In the first call they said that an investigation s being done on me and I should call back. When I call back, there is no official voice message and it just rings out. No one ever picks up.
The 2nd time, was about 1 month later. They called saying I missed several court appearances and if I don't show up in the court the following tuesday a warrant would be issued for my arrest.
I called my sheriff's department and they said that there are flags in their message:
1.) they did not tell me what court to show up to
2.) they never provided any paperwork for me to take to a lawyer to defend myself
If you have doubts, I suggest that you call your sheriff's office as well.- Caller: Consumer Affairs Fraud Department
