Caller said they were from IRS and wanted money

I received a call from the same phone number on my mobile. They left an automated voicemail stating that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against me and to return the phone call immediately for details. I called the number back from work and it just rang and rang, no voicemail option... sounds like a scam.

I received a call from this number as well it registered from Washington DC.  I.R.S Scam- filing a law suit against me.

Voicemail is a recorded message: "...case file. Please call immediately on our department number 202-569-1431. I repeat 202-569-1431. Thank you." followed by 10 seconds of silence.

Received a message saying that a lawsuit is being filed against us regarding taxes and that I should call immediately to which I DID NOT...scam I am sure

These are criminal extortionists operating in overseas boiler rooms using VOIP to alter their identities and locations and out of the reach of US law enforcement.

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

I got a call from 202-569-1431 ..they say they from the IRS  and they filed a law suit.. It's a scam  so be very careful with any number from that area code

Same exact thing here. I was told to go to my bank and withdraw some money and deposit it to a different bank account.

I just got a VM them saying the IRS has files a lawsuit on me and to call be ASAP. WHAT IS GOING ON? I'm a tax paying citizen!

They left a voicemail saying IRS is filing a lawsuit against me? I hope this is a scam.....not sure what is going on. Makes me sick!

Guy named Jim Craig said I was under criminal investigation by the IRS.  When I called his bluff he hung up.

Threatening call

I got a call from 202-569-3455 and an automated voice said that the IRS has filed a law suit against me.

I called back on this number and kept ringing and ringing.

Sounds like a scam? Turns out it was a scam because there was never a live person picking up the phone when I called back. There was silence for over a minute with not a breathing voice on the other end.

DO NOT FALL FOR THESE SCAMMERS PRETENDING TO BE FROM THE IRS.
