SCAM! They threatened to have me arrested within one hour if I didn't answer whether or not I wanted to fight or resolve my dispute with the Federal Government. My alleged court case was going to be presented to a judge (of a courtroom they wouldn't tell me) tomorrow morning. My options were to resolve it now--and pay $2324 or fight it. If I fought and lost, I would pay $75,000. I was apparently audited for my 2008-2013 federal taxes. The call came through a 518 area code, which is Albany, NY (and where government is based) but I was to return the call to the 202 number. The 518 number is disconnected. Oh and when I called them--he knew my name, first and last! Anyone who has dealt with the IRS or NYS can tell you they never know your name! Ha!

A message from number 1-618-465-8138 was left on my cell phone stating that it was the IRS and they were filing a law suite against me. Didn't leave a name or reference number just stated to call another number: 202-580-8423. I then got suspicious and put the number in the internet to look up for scam calls and found that both numbers were notated to be calls from scammers. Please don't give these people your personal information or time of day. I just told them my calls are being investigated by the police and the calls stopped. I hope and pray that people like these will be caught and prosecuted to the fullest. People work too hard for their lively hood to have to endure stupidity such as this!!!!

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

just got this same call as well!  Scammers!!!

I just received a phone call on my cell phone. The voice was automated and it came from 315-789-9672. The message was to inform me that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me and for me to call this number. 202-580-8423. I checked on-line and found that many others have received the same type of call. I did not call that number back. It is a scam. Just wanted people to beware of this. Thanks.

Me to just got the same call. But was suspicious bc I don't owe anything and the message was that they have attempted to contact me, which they have not. So looked it up and yep its a scam!

Received message left on voice mail saying this was the final notice and we would be sued by the IRS.  The number given to call back was 202/580-8423.  I know for a fact that the IRS does NOT call anyone.  They send an official letter. This is obviously a scam.  In fact, I have read about this exact scam scenario.  Do NOT respond to this call.  Report the scam via

Called to say I was going to court tomorrow to be sued by the irs for 1,000 dollars and if I did not show up that it would cost me 47,000.

Same auto voicemail message re: IRS. Interesting that my last name is also White and I live in AL. Call was from (607) 737-0186.  Knew it was a scam.  Registered my number again on the Do Not Call website.

Got a call / VM message - woman's voice, "We have been trying to reach you, this call is official and final
notice from IRS, the reason of this calll is IRS is filing a lawsuit against you, for more information regarding this, please call our department immediately at 202-580-8423."

I blocked my caller ID and call the 618 area code number, it is disconnected, so it is a spoofed number.  I blocked my caller ID again and called the 202 area code, reached a recording asking to leave a message.

Obviously this is a scam -- IRS sends snail mail; they do not use phone.  They didn't get me, but I am hoping they won't get any unsuspecting person.  So many scammers in the world.  I believe in Karma, so I'll drink to that.

I received a call from this number claiming to be the IRS with a final call before I am sued.  Like the rest of you, I am assuming this is a prank.  The IRS has a) no reason to sue me, b) has my physical and email addresses should they wish to contact me and c) I doubt they would use a computer voice to leave a message such as this.  Scammers!

I received a call from 518-792-9450 telling me that the IRS had filed a lawsuit against me (no reason given) and that I should call this number (202-580-8423) for details. I have reported that number here as well. No, I didn't call anybody, just deleted the message.

Had 2 calls today from different "spoofed" telephone numbers with the same message from the IRS. I think I'll call back and tell them I'm going to the local IRS Office to turn myself in!

Received a voicemail message stating to call 202.580.8423 stating I was being audited.  They even knew my name.  Once I started questioning them they hung up.  Need to register my phone number again.

Tried to tell me that a lawsuit was being filed on me.  What a joke, once I called them scammers he started cussing at me.
