Saying its an official notice that this is the IRS and it is filing a lawsuit against me and to call that number.  Called a real IRS number and said it is a scam and that the real iRS would handle such matters through the mail and not with threatening messages over the phone.

Claimed to be the IRS.  That I owed back taxes and that an arrest warrant was out for my arrest.  Right!  Told them to come and get me then.

I received the same incoming phone message ("IRS filing a suit...call 202-580-8650").  I did call: there was the background noise of a busy call center and a South-Asian-accented voice trying to get me to settle a case of Fraud against the IRS....

I received a call from 202-580-8650 from someone who identified himself as IRS agent James Williamson. He stated that I was being sued by IRS and I owed $3586.73. He wanted my cell phone number in order to assist me in arranging payment via money gram. I asked him to hold on and then he hung up the phone.

Said it was IRS. I asked for identification and was told, "I am Officer Nancy, Badge #IRM1860 with the IRS (very heavily accented English). She said we had major discrepancies with our 2008-2013 income tax returns and if I did not take care of it within 45 minutes, I would be arrested. I laughed and said "That's not going to happen."  She said, "Emme, do you want to be arrested!?" I hung up on her.

Same experience as others, a recording telling me that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against me.  They've called twice, the first time I did return the call, it rang and rang and went unanswered.

Same experience as all of the above. I have received several calls, some of them threatening to "take action" or else ... on another call the threat was even more personal saying something along the lines of "if you don't return our call, the consequences for you will be dire" ... I know it is as scam as the IRS would handle this through mail and with at least some form of notification that taxes are "past due". I am reporting this as I feel very concerned for other people out there that do believe these threats and fall for it.

If you call the 202-580-8650 number, it only rings. No message, no answer. The scam includes other numbers as well. 509-346-6039 is another. We were out of town and there were 3 of these messages in a 24 hour period; it's all a scam. IRS will always first contact through mail.
