they tell me they from IRS

SCAM!  The IRS does not call unless you call them first and ask to have them call you back.  Any IRS contact is always initiated via US Mail.

I got two calls today, sounded more like "ILS" and they have filed a case against me. and to call back the hot line of their division 202-600-4535
I am going to call them to find out more

Update: Filed a complaint with FTC./ do not call registry.

Mr. Cooper called me and said he was with the IRS and that I was in trouble for tax fraud. He asked me for my phone number and when I told him I was a stay at home mom he hung up. My husband called them back and they told him the police would be at my house this morning to arrest me and they told him they would show proof and when he asked them if they would also be here to show proof they hung up on him.

Got a call from David white and suggested me to talk to Mr Copper.

They told me that they are from IRS and I owe money for back taxes and if I didn't pay them right now they will send police and have me arrested and they only wanted me to pay them through prepaid card, from CVS or Rite-Aid, I told them that I didn't receive any notices in mail they said that they sent me numerous notices and they were all sent back to them because I didn't want to pay them, so i called my wife from different phone and have her search the phone number and found out that this guys are bunch of fraudsters!!!!!!

FBI should arrest these people right away.....

Unfortunately these people are probably out of the United States (India perhaps) so out laws do not apply and the FBI can't help.

I been getting calls from this number. they left me harassing messages saying they are with irs. when I called them back they said I owe 3000 dollars. he also said same thing they tried mail but letters were returned. the address they told me is totaly wrong. when I told him I get my lawyer call him he just hung up. I even went to local IRS office and they do not recognize it. scam scam scam

Hello guys I too got a  call and I fought it fishy so I note down the  number and Google it and then found out this thanks guys u were helpful.  Trust me it didn't make sense when they said I have done fraud

I also recieved a call from this number claiming he is from the irs. I didnt answer but he did left me a threatful message. He told me I was charged and that I needed to call back that number. Then he said if yoy disregard this message he wished me take care and good luck. Knowing today is labor day the irs is closed. I wish I could see the guy behind the line so I could knock him out!

I got a voice message today and here is the complete transcript:

"This message is inteded for ..... My name is Max Gambell. I am calling from IRS. The reason I called you is to inform you about a case which has been filed against you by the IRS. So the very second you receive this message I need you to retain the call. The issue at hand is extremely time sensitive and hotline to my division is 202 600 4535. Dont disregard this message and to return the call. Now, if you fail to return the call and I dont hear from you the only thing I can do is to wish you good luck as the situation unfolds on you. So Good Bye and Take Care!"

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

-  they  are   also  impersonating  DEA  officials  /  IRS   etc....  with  threats  to  arrest you  unless  you  immediately  send money  via  wire   transfer /  western  union   to some   offshore  country  !!!!!   obvious  scam  !!!

some  are landlines...many  are  cell phones...some  are  spoofed  and  linked  to  offshore foreign call centers  /  countries !!!!
we've  traced  back  most  of  these  numbers  to  offshore  foreign    call centers mostly  in   INDIA /  THAILAND / AFRICA  /  JAMAICA  ETC....

here's a  few  other  numbers  posted  from  the   same  area  code  offering a  wide  variety  of  scams  /  fake  emails and  scams  after  posting  something  on   craigslist   (  old  scam  )  ...... collecting  for  non  existant  "  payday  loans "....free  money / scam  giveaways /  calling  on  behalf  of  a  humane  society..... $1,000's  in  free  gov't  money.........  etc  etc.....stories  change  out  all the  time......and  the  usual  nonsense!!!

**   mysteriously  call to  claim  they  have  several  thousand  of  dollars  to  send  you....just  provide  your  bank  account and  credit  card   right  away   etc etc.........scam scam

Thank you for the links. I registered in the DoNotCall. Also I called these guys and yelled at them not to call me. Did not get a call today. :)

My father always gets these calls  - We weren't quite sure why.  Recently I added my self onto his Vonage extension and a week later I am getting the same calls.
Complete fraud.  It annoys me to get calls from these people and long voicemails.

I will be turning my vonage off.

These people are horrible to deal with. Rude and bullying. Does not understand how to telemarket and properly scam someone.

Rcvd call this morning. Said they were from IRS. [***]. IRS does not call you about a lawsuit. So I reported them to Charlotte County Sheriff's office, IRS 800-829-0433, FTC 877-382-4357. I am also calling them back as many times as I can. Tying up their phone may save some elderly person grief. Initiated around 50 calls to this [***] company. They are getting tired of my calls but, hey I did not start this. If every one does the same they might get the message. Bunch of scum scam artists.
