Missed a call from 1-202-602-0048. Called it back and a man with a HEAVY Indian accent answered " IRS"
I said " Where is this"
He says "Internal Revenue Service"
I say " Repeat that"
He disconnects.
I call back  and it tells me - " Sorry, your call cannot be completed at this time, please hang up and try your call again"
Tried four time and still kept getting the same error message.
When I google IRS - I dont get that as the number.

Ok... lets reverse call this number over and over.  This keeps them from calling out and wondering if it's a true sucker on the line or not.  Happy pranking!

I got a call from  this # also.  I couldn't answer as I was at work. They left a vm that was a recording not a human and the vm starts in the middle of the message, something about taxes and to call immediately.  I think i will try reverse calling and have fun like Jason stated. Idiots

Same thing -- called, told me I was guilty of fraud, call back immediately to avoid prison -- knew it was scam, HEAVY accented Indian answered, told him I was eating a steak, aka his reincarnated mother and hung up  -- then left his # on a few men's room walls

This number called me it was automated started in middle and said something about fraud.

Got 2 calls from this number claiming to be the IRS accusing me of tax fraud.  I have now blocked the number on my cell phone.

The first # appears as 866 418 5039 from wash.dc., but when i look it up it says it's from renton,wa medical assistance but message starts in the middle telling me to call 202 602 0048. I didn't call either of them back.

Got a call from this number stating I was guity of tax fraud. Called it back and a man with a Heavy Indian accent said he was with the IRS. I pressed him for details and he hung up on me.  So not sure what the scam is but it's a definite scam.

Husband called and told warrant was being sent to local police for tax fraud from 2006 to 2010.  Again, heavy Indian accent, stated that he was part of the "Tax Bureau".  I told him that's nice, giving his number to the police, and he hung up on me.

Yep! nice middle eastern man. Told him I was eating a nice pork lunch and that he was a lying piece of excrement!

Left a Voice Mail that said something about a tax file needing to be updated and to direct call(their words) the supervisor. Idiots.

received an automated voice call from 202-602-0048 today 5-13-16 saying I have fraud against my irs claim.  I hung up on number, the IRS does not contact anyone by phone.

Definitely a scam, don't call back or give any personal information! I was called on 05/12/2016. This is the third time I've been called in the last two years by these types of people. I never respond and they go away.

I have received several calks of this type from various phone numbers.  It was from this # today, stating that there was fraud on my taxes etc.

Reversed called for a hour. First call the man with a deep Indian accent wouldnt answer my questions like where is your office located, what is your name, what is your supervisors name. Finally he said his name was Dominic Payler. He even spelled it for me. Authoratively I said, this is Homeland security, and they hung up.  I prank called them for a hour, after the first hour they stopped answering. Definately a scam. IRS does not call you they send you mail.

I missed a call from this number and they left a message saying that I committed fraud on my taxes and call back to rectify it immediately. So of course I call back and it was also a man with a thick Indian accent. He tells me that I have 3 cahrges and one was that I have an out standing balance and I said wow I never owed and he hung up promptly. I called back 3 times and he never answered so I looked up the number and turns out it's fraud

Blocking them doesn't do anything. I've done the same thing and have been contacted again from 8 different states and numbers. Next time report them to your respective state government fraud/scam department. That's what I did today. I hope these crooks get busted for the scammers they are. I was told that I owed them 8,000 dollars. Class A IRS SCAM!!!

Same scam as listed above.. I suggested he gain some  "inner enlightenment" by kindly reproducing himself..
