Stephen6 Mar 2007- This irritating and obnoxious people are creditors out of New York.
They are looking for people for collections. I have tried everything except for changing my number... and mine is unlisted and not published anywhere.
The phone companies nor the feds have done anything to stop them and its up to the public to do so.. tell them what they can do with the phone.
- DO NOT TELL THEM ANYTHING! Don't tell them that the number belongs to you. Don't tell them your name.
HERE'S WHAT THEY'RE DOING! (my suspicion) They call you once and get you to admit that it's your phone. Sometimes they'll ask "whom am I speaking with". When you tell them who you are, they add it to your "account". Then they decide that you owe some random amount on a bill. And tell me - who out there pays less than 45/month for a cell phone??? NOt me! It's bogus. If they call you, get the account number from them so that you don't have to give them any of your information if you call back on the account. - 202-607-2806 I get these calls at least twice a day...and it has been several months. They even call on the weekends. They ask if it my number, and ask for someone I do not know. This morning I told them the person had passed away, and they ask if I were the husband. Supposedly the person owes $566 for a phone bill. AT&T claims the only option is to file a police report. ANY SUGGESTIONS!!!

I was also getting quite a few calls per day from these fools, and ignoring them, until one morning...
I picked up and "pranked" them.
I pretended to be interested in whatever they were calling about, but made them repeat everything seven times, and made them keep explaining everything over and over and over. After being transferred to a few different people, and making each person nuts, they finally realized that for once they were the ones being taken advantage of.
I have not yet received another call from them.
It might take five minutes of your time, but in my opinion it is sure worth it.
You will stop getting the calls, and you will give those $*%@%$#@ a taste of their own medicine. - I saw this number on my caller ID when I got home and called back to see who it was because my grandfather is terminally ill and all his family is in that area code. They asked for my number and I gave it to them and they said they didn't show that number in their data bank. So why have they called twice from a similar number and are now calling from a number in Newport Beach and they say they don't have that number, either. Fishy.
- Rachel8 Mar 2007We just got this number after having requested a number that had not been in use for over 6 months. I don't answer the phone but they are relentless in their phone calls, calling up to 5 or 6 times a day. Its getting to the poitn where having a land line is useless.
- Edward Anderson15 Mar 2007They've called my Blackberry three times today. I don't have it provisioned for voice service, so I pay through the nose if I accept calls. So I called 'em back on the landline. They showed my number registered to someone else. The rep agreed to update their records. We'll see.
- Michael Hart15 Mar 2007More than half a dozen calls over the past three days. Always asking for Lynn. I've asked them to stop calling me and explained there is no Lynn at this number. They don't stop. I've had this happen once before on my work phone. These people are scum. Makes me want to go back to the middle ages before spam, telemarketing, TV.... It just doesn't seem worth it any more.
