IRS scam claiming criminal lawsuit

On message machine.  Foreign accent.  Gave me a case number.  Told me "time was of the essence."  I, or my lawyer, should call.  From Washington, D.C.

This female caller with a heavy foreign accent claimed to be with the IRS.  She urged me (on a Friday afternoon) to call or have my lawyer call her regarding criminal suit xxx123.  If I did not call quickly she said she could only wish me luck regarding the suit against me.  So aggravating!

Just called with the message as above postings!!! Didn't say who the message for!!!

I just received the same call that everyone else received on this post. Vague message, foreign accent, did not mention what company they were with, etc.

This is my second call from one of these spam types in the last month where they leave a pre-recorded vague message with a case or file number which must be dealt with immediately or face some sort of mysterious trouble.

Block the number and always remember to google messages like these!

Yet another call from an "Officer" w the IRS claiming they had a criminal case on me. I just said "Ohhhh, I'm scared" and hung up.

Second call now from this number. Heavy accent but  threatening a criminal case that will be turned over to the FBI. I hung up but the scary thing to me is that I just for the first time visited Wash DC, did someone pick up some personal data on my and my identity?

just got a call from this number as well. no message left. I called the number to see how they would answer, they answered the pjone as:
Legal firm for US treasury, How may I help you?

OMG, I almost laughed in his face.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

I received a message from this number and had the same thing. Foreign accent, asking for laywer and not to ignore call. I want this recorded in the same files as the rest of the people who received the same call and message. I did get a case number of DH94436 but I will not call back based on the info from other people.

My caller ID said Unavailable, out of area with no number listed. I did get the same call back number 202-629-9309 which I will block. I apologize for the extra comment but felt it necessary to update the original comment.

Woman with foreign access.  Case BH94439 - I or my lawyer should call or she can only wish me luck as things unfold on me.  What a crock.

Amusement for the day: Just got a phone call from an "attorney" with a heavy accent stating that a lawsuit was filed against me, that the issue at hand is "extremely time sensitive," and demanding that myself or my attorney call them back. If in the event that I or my attorney do not call back, all she could do for me is wish me good luck as the "situation" unfolds. She also gave me a 202 area code and a case number. Not once was my name used or their name revealed. Quite amusing but I can also see how a call like this would freak out a elderly person, someone less educated, or a recent immigrant. What a bunch of [***]. If it is a real lawsuit, good luck as I don't have anything of value (just a teacher you know). I'm almost tempted to call back and act scared and beg them for mercy....

This caller left a vague threatening message without a company name saying they needed to hear from me or my attorney or "the only thing I can do is wish you good luck as the situation unfolds on you."  Research shows many people are receiving a message that this is the IRS.

Same call as previous posts. Doesn't this go way beyond the annoyance factor of the run-of-the-mill spam call? I thought there were serious legal consequences for impersonating police or other gov't officials?

Caller said the IRS filed a lawsuit against me but yet wanted me to give them my name. I told them they were trying to scam me and I hung up.

Yup got the call. WTF the IRS doesn't call you.

same MO.  Female with heavy accent advising I or my attorney need to call and don't disregard and referrenced a case number.  Said if you choose not to call them good luck.  So funny but older people may be frightened by these tactics and get sucked in.  Call came in from 202-629-9309.

Received the same call today.  Have been contacted a couple other times.   It was more threatening this time.
Extremely BAD situation, good luck as it unfolds on you.  I do NOT owe the IRS 1 penny.   Can you imagine how scared you would be if you did owe them?   I hope someone get's them.
