These guys claimed to be a software company doing free scans on your computer to find malicous downloads and were alerted by your computer sending alerts to Microsoft . I called Microsoft and they denied any such thing and warned of a fishing scam .Also they will not give up without a threat to report them to FCC , Which I did anyway

I picked up after the 4th call of the day. All other comments about the scam are correct. The guy said he was from Windows and wanted me to type in a combination on the keyboard. Didn't do it obviously and when i started asking questions about how he got my phone number he hung up. Don't answer!!!

Was expecting a phone call from DC so I answered the call -- man with heavy foreign accent (Indian) started to speak.  I asked what it was in reference to -- he started his statement by saying he was from Windows which I could tell was a scam.  Told him to remove my number from his list which he responded he could not -- so I told him -- no problem I will sue you.  He hung up immediately.

Guy with Indian accent told me that there was a virus on my windows computer. He spoke very fast and threw out a bunch of technical terms about how my computer was infected, attempting to sound legitimate. I played along for a minute or so and then started asking him some questions about how he got my information. I forced him to give me details about my computer. I said I don't know if I have Windows 7 or XP. I asked him if he could check. He said XP. I then told him that I don't even have a Windows computer, and that I have a Mac. He got nervous and I told him that he shouldn't lie to people.

Another voice took over the phone started to chastise me asking me why I would waste their time or something, which I didn't quite understand given that they called me and were trying to steal information from me. I suppose that they were upset that I wasted precious time that they could have used in stealing someone else's information.

I tried calling back to get a company name, however, it said that the number was no longer in service. Don't waste your time with these people.

Called me today (Oct 27, 2015.) Fast talking woman with accent. Too fast to comprehend her without requested repeats and queries. Couldn't comprehend details of her business name,,etc. Blah, blah...Washington D.C....your PC is being hacked..I can show you. I debated for sometime with her for more info. Basically she tired of my debating her. Gave over to her male supervisor. Same accent. Wanted to make me understand my PC problem by allowing remote access to our computers.in order to show me. I was difficult to them both and when I accused them of hacking by wanting access to my system the call suddenly was dropped. Scam is to scare you into allowing them remote access into your system in guise of "helping you in this serious matter."

CID "Software Co SCA". Some [***] at the other end claiming to be calling from Windows. Advised him to FO. Number is spoofed. Will now block area code. Don't need calls from DC, legitimate or not.
BTW, why doesn't 800 Notes have Phishing as a type of call?
