- Jennifer| 5 repliesReceived a call today. Recording said it was the IRS giving me a refund. They said to call them to verify account information and they would deposit into my bank account. Considering I have not filed taxes yet I highly doubt this is legitimate.
- Mike in MD replies to Jennifer| 3 repliesObvious scam. The IRS is not even opening processing on 2012 returns until Jan 30th. Also, the IRS never calls unless you have called them and asked them to call back. All communications with taxpayers are initiated via US Mail. They have notices on their website to be alert for scams like this.
- John OJust got the same type of phone call Aabout an hour ago.. Very obvious this is a scam..
- LindsayI too received a similiar call from this company regarding a supposed IRS refund. I have filed my taxes however they are in "pending" status as the IRS is not even looking at refunds until 1/30 this year. When I asked the person who called how much this supposed refund was for, he stated a number that wasn't even remotely similar to the actual refund I am expecting. I told him that I knew this was a scam and that I would be reporting his company and he hung up on me.

- marthaI also received a phone call from them stating that they need to confirm my information to deposit addition al funding. I called the IRS and they asked me to speak to one of the departments to report the scam. So beware. the number is 202-656-6282
the irs is a very formal governmental agency and they don't answer in such an informal manner.
It almost sounded as if they were calling from some sort of calling center/sweat shop- Caller: IRS may i help you
- anonymous replies to daveI am not a victim of this scammer and a real victim will be able to describe the call in detail. I cannot.
- SF| 1 replyI rcvd vm stating to call back for refund. I called back and the person with heavy Indian accent sd his name was John Hutchinson. I asked where I was calling, he said the IRS and gave me his employee id#. He asked me to vrfy my dob. I asked him how do I know I am calling IRS since there was no recording at the beginning of my call. That is when he hung up on me
- Mike in MD replies to SFObvious scam. The IRS never calls taxpayers unless you have contacted a local office and requested them to do so. All contacts are initiated via US Mail. The IRS has warning on their website about Tax Refund and other scams.
- janice holloway| 1 replyPlease remove my number from call list.
Callers are stating that they are the IRS and have refund money for me, I need to call and verify information and they can deposit money into my bank account. - Mike in MD replies to janice hollowayTHIS IS A SCAM pretending to be from the IRS.
The caller is not associated with this website and even if they were, are not clairvoyant. But you should never put your phone number on sites like this where scammers could find it. Also, scammers never remove your number until their scam has gotten all they can out of you. Report to IRS and FTC. - MeMyselfEyeAmazing...They owe me $173.00 too!!!!! The VM is not even a good fake of a human voice. Never heard of the "IN ER EL REV OO ER IS".

This same call came to me 1/31/2012 @ 9:20am the number is 202-656-6282. Most likely the same man he said his name was Brian White and the are calling from the FED IRS in DC. I questioned the location of which he was calling me from and it was not the correct address that is posted on the internet of the real IRS office. So this morning i called the IRS to confirm this call. I was given a number to report them because it is a scam. the number to report these frauds is 1-800-366-4484........ I am glad that we all reliazed it was a scam but there are people who will not. so please report these scam artists. - Todd| 1 replyReceived a call today. Recording said it was the IRS giving me a refund. They said to call them to verify account information and they would deposit into my bank account. They had my social security number bank info, DOB and address. When the man answered when I called back he answered IRS, 202-656-6282 is a WA DC nbr and the address he gave me was the IRS in DC. I figured it out when he said I needed to go to 7-11, K-Mart or a CVS pharmacy and I had to get a Green Dot Money Pack and pay them $170 using the green pack and call him back with the info. The mans name was Steve Davis with a very strong indian accent that was very hard to understand. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO! Advise you are calling the IRS and they are being reported. Then he hung up on me.
- Caller: IRS scam (not the IRS)
- richmarJust rec'd a call from this number. I hung up after the first 3 words. Just called the number back and an automated voice said if you want to be placed on our no call list press one which I did.
