Unknown number called me and told me I was qualified in receiving thousands of government money if I called back this number immediately with a code the unknown caller had given me. The man on the other end said he was from the U.S. government but sounded Indian along with the others in the background.

Yes, The same here. One called, told me to call the number right away then when I did, they wanted me to go buy a Green dot card from CVS or a location that sold them. Then for me to call him back and he would "help" me to raise the $500 limit to receive the $9,200.00 on it. I had to put $250 plus the $4.95 on the card in order to receive the "grant money". I told him to have the "government"  to just send me a check. Im sure they have my address...lol..

Oh good grief. The post directly above yours identifies this as a scam with links to government websites describing the scam.

The very same thing just happened to me and they called my cell phone number , he ask me what was my name I told him the guy that gave me the code didn't ask for my name so I wouldn't give my name and he hung up on me lol

Foreign speaking man told me that I had got a grant from the US government for $9200 and to call this number 202-657-5198 and give them approval code GG 607 and they would tell me how to get the money I looked it up and it was a scam please do something about this

2026575198 called and said i could get 9,000 from the government its fake they wouldn't give me any information

Just hide your caller I.D. (*67 for Ooma) and flood them with calls, preferably at midnight or 2 a.m. lol. Have a little fun with them to make up for the apparent inability or reluctance for the so called "Do Not Call" list not working as it should.

Just remember that 2AM is 2PM in India. They're awake over there, well. . . . kinda.

Do not believe it they are going to take the 250.00 and run money lost on a scam $9200.00 n my dreams

I just got the is same message from this number.   told me i could get 9,200 from the US government since I "paid my bills on time and haven't filed bankruptcy in the past 6 months".    SMH...

An unknown caller told me to call this number so I could get grant money. Called the number and no answer. I found it all interesting cuz my number is on the Do Not Call registry.

The did the same to me this must stop

I received a phone call I was told to call 202-657-5198. I called the number gave the id number that was given to me. Then I was instructed to go to Walmart and go to money gram. The guy told me to make sure I had $250 to wire them first, then when that is done they would wire me back $9450.00. The $9200 plus $250. The First Lady that called gave me her name as Catherine Tyler . So once I get to Walmart I'm to call the number again and ask for Michael @ ext 163. I was also told that I was receiving the grant because I paid my bills and taxes on time.

I just received a call from an unknown number and was instructed to call 202 657 5198. Stated that I was approved for a government grant in the amount of $9,200.00 but I would have to go to Walmart and make a security deposit to myself and they will send me the money thru money gram. Hello to anyone. I have received a call today telling me that I was given a US grant free of use of $9,200.00 I have made my research and discovered that this is a over sea scam and that no money is in the deal except for me giving them money. The woman I talk to sounded from India and that it was an over seas call. That gave me cause to be worried I could not see the US government contacting citizens to inform them that they qualify for a grant by an overseas operator.
This is not how the US government system operates. Be aware, its a scam.

I just recieved a call from an unknown number by a guy with a heavy Indian accent. They spent a while telling me about this government grant refund. I looked up the number they gave me and was led here, where I proceeded to tell them their scam was revealed. They began to cuss me out and hung up. Minutes later, they called back and a different Indian man spoke, asking if I wanted to play "yo mama." I proceeded to insult their culture and horrible scam, to which they hung up.

Same here. They told me to go to Walmart and call him and go to a money gram to deposit $200 and get get back $9,400

I feel really offended because I was only offered $8200, lol. As with all of you I could barely understand What the man was . I actually hope they call back so I can mess with them for a little bit. Good luck to everybody and remember NEVER give out ANY information to anyone on the phones
