- Tim| 1 replySame here. I asked for their website -- he gave me one that could not be possible -- www.usagovernementgrants/org/personal_grant.html ... I asked about the forward slash and he insisted that was right, and I kept insisting on vetting him before I gave out any personal information. Of course, he got frustrated and hung up.
The following is an active site:
http://www.usagovernmentgrants.org/Personal_Grants.html
Not sure if it is legit or not. - fnord replies to TimIt would be legit if it were a .gov site - like grants.gov.
- Lance Morgan replies to Meredith Smith| 1 replyI just got the same call and I gave them my bank acct info, and then called the Finance Manager, named Linda. She told me if I pay a security deposit of $280 I would then receive $9,000 and they would reimburse me the $280 as well. I didn't have the $280 today so she told me to call her back when I do and she will release the 9 G's to my bank account. Hopefully I didn't just give my account # to scammers, eeeeek!!
- SoCalGalThis call has come in several times to both my landline and cell phone numbers. No message ever left and I don't answer because I don't see a company name or recognize the number. I am tired of these scam calls.
- PaulWas calling 2 or more times daily. One tells me I'm entitled to grant money, then another tells me I have unpaid taxes and if left unpaid will be arrested.
Tried calling the number and get recording saying number not in service.
I got so tired of it that when they called one time I answered with speaker phone. me and a friend talked like we just killed a door to door sales person . I know it's not the most polite way of doing things, but it stopped the calls. - SuzanneTired of these calls - how do they get a list of cell phone numbers?!
- LauraThey called me five times today. I answered once and they said I was going to receive a grant. I asked what purpose the grant was to be spent... You know, on education, a program for the homeless, disadvantaged kids, ect. They said for whatever I wanted to use the money for. So I then explained that they have the definition of a grant wrong as you have to apply for them and use the money for a very specific purpose and surely as an agent of the government, they would know just that. Then I hung up. They still called and called. I ignored them every other time. Total scam!
