- SarahJust got a call from this one too, no one left a msg, caller id said : USPIRG I *67 and called it back it was a man with a thick accent who said he was not available to leave a message. I am on the Do Not Call List so I don't understand why people keep calling me. Obviously a scam.

- ChrisUSPIRG is US Public Interest Research Group, a non-profit that provides supposedly apolitical analyses of current events/proposed policies. These calls are legal because the Federal do not call program does not apply to non-profits. That said, I agree with everyone, if I don't know the number I don't answer and if they don't leave a message I don't call back. 'Nuff said.
- KathySame here; they called and no message. Why are we on the Do not call registry anyway? I swear, I get more calls now. Could someone please do a do not call registry that works?

- MeghanI missed a few calls from this number with no messages left. Based on posts here, I didn't bother calling back, but I did pick up the next time they called. The caller was polite and well-spoken and clearly identified herself as calling on behalf of USPIRG before going further. She explained the cause she was soliciting donations for (labelling genetically modified foods, in this case), and was cordial and prompt about ending the call when I declined to donate. I haven't had another call since.
Chris is correct that non-profits aren't subject to the Do Not Call registry, but many of them often keep their own internal DNC lists to avoid wasting time and money contacting people they know aren't interested. I didn't inquire whether USPIRG does, but either way, a quick, "Thanks, but no thanks," will get you a lot farther than letting the phone ring - probably better for the blood pressure, too.- Caller: USPIRG

- Sondagsakare replies to nuashPIRG is one of the best public interest groups around--they fight for the people every time.
- julieThe most annoying solicitation company ever. I have supported them in the past when I was employed. Since I am currently unemployed, I have explained numerous times (7 years ago one.time) that I am unable to support their causes. I was ridiculed and treated like I committed a crime when denying them the requested support. Since January, they have called me 31 times, incl. on Sundays and past 10 pm. I have them on my ditch list and have never picked up or called back since I blocked them. I am wondering when they or their computer give up auto dialing me. I am on the do not contact list, but to no avail. There is no way to stop them. Repeatedly requested to be taken off their call lists.

- Mickey DReceived a call, didn't answer, left no message. After seeing it was USPIRG, a legimate organization, I called, it answered, identified the organization and purpose of the call, then had menu prompts whicih I followed to stop calls. Wish all organizations worked like this.
