Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. - TomUnwanted call

- EricFemale bot voice claiming the IRS was going to sue me. I told to call 202.684.6848, which I did not.
- Caller: IRS
- DianaReveived a call this morning about 9:30am. Said it was the IRS and if we didn't call back, they were filing a lawsuit against us. Sure wish this type of "crime" could be stopped. I did call the sheriff's office to confirm that the IRS does NOT use the phone to contact anyoone...rather the mail.
- JoelLady called and said irs was going to file a lawsuit against me and told me to call a number
- Caller: DC

- MichaelReceived call, like the others, recorded voice telling me that I was about to be sued by IRS, and I should call
2026846848 to take care of the problem. I don't think so! I believe that it IS true that the IRS does not call people but uses the mail to contact folks. - GlennFemale bot. IRS is going to sue me. Tried calling the number and it is constantly busy.
- queenieThis call came in at 9:05 today. Didn't recognize number didn't answer. The message said the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me and I needed to call this number 202-684-6848. Didn't call back just looked it up on this website. Funny they didn't use my name just had a voice like a robo call. These people make me ill, trying to violate the elderly and naive.
- judyThe same thing happened to me. Received a call on my cell phone on 6/26/15 at 2:40pm from the number 202-684-6848. A recorded message was left saying the IRS is filing a law suit against me and I need to call them back. However, the IRS does not have my cell phone number, only my home phone number. This is still very scary. I am going to just refer this to my tax accountant. There is no reason for this. I assume this is a scam call.
- BingeeCaller said to call this number at once about the case against me this was on my voice mail
I didn't call back - Sue B.Just received a call from the number 202-684-6848 claiming that the IRS has filed a lawsuit against me. I am pretty sure it is a scam. I doubt that the IRS calls people on saturday
. - AnnI just answered the phone and the robotic msg said to call 202 684 6848. A guy with a strong Indian accent told me his name was Mark Brown. I said that sounds really strange for your name to be Mark Brown. He quickly got frustrated with me and told me to be at my address, which he had, within the hour and a sheriff's deputy would let me know if he was telling the truth. Exasperated, he hung up. I called back, got the same guy and he gave an Indian name, I said, Oh, you sound just like the guy I talked to named Mark Brown. He then kept pretending that we had a bad phone connection until he hung up. I absolutely will be reporting this!
- STELLAThere was message left on my voice mail at 11:45 a.m. June 27, 2015, saying that she represented the IRS and the IRS was suing me. I called the number back at 12:58 p.m. and an India man answered the phone telling me that he represented the IRS and that I was being sued for $4,488.29 due to failing to pay or file taxes from 2008- 2014. He asked me to give him my bank account number and he would send me an email to authorize the transfer. I said this is a bogus call and I am not giving up my bank information. He said that the police would come to my home in 1/2 an hour to arrest me and that my bank accounts would be frozen unless i give him the requested information and authorization to move funds. I refused and hung up on him.

- Reaper| 2 repliesFiancee just received a call on her home phone from the same number. Same pre-packaged, scare tactic crap aimed at scamming you out of your money.
Clue #1: The IRS DOES NOT call you to tell you that they are suing you. If it ever gets to that point, they send registered mail that you sign for. However, that is IF AND ONLY IF, you have first endured the IRS audit process and have been found to owe back/additional taxes, and have failed/refused to pay them in the time frame negotiated. The IRS provides ample opportunity (as well as legitimate communication) to allow for any such payments to occur.
So, she called the number back and a guy with a thick [***] accent identified himself as "Office Mark Brown" (Clue #2) and proceeded to give his "official" ID/Badge number with such a horrendous grasp of the English language that he was shredding the English language like Edward Scissorshands trying to pronouncing the letters and numbers of his "Official Badge ID". Apparently, the letter "M" is a tough one. (Clue #3) .
Clue #4: "Officer Brown" also indicated that he was sending a Sheriff's officer out "right now" to serve her the papers and, here's the best part, "arrest you for failure to pay"! So....the IRS calls you BEFORE HAND to tell you that they are sending a police officer out to arrest you? (These idiots are in dire need of a much more convincing talk track).
Bottom line, this is (most likely) a low IQ individual/organization that has procured a Washington, DC based number to 'legitimize' their attempts at scamming you out of your money.
If you are contacted by them, don't waste your time calling them back, it's a 100% hoax.- Caller: 202-684-6848
