(India) Call center for "IT News" (?) Asked for IT manager. Put caller on hold until he hung up. Caller ID showed "wireless caller".

hard to understand the Caller because of the heavy accent.
Calling for IT department.
said his name is "Steve" (I think) and he was calling from (and i could be corrected on this - he was difficult to understand) but sounded like he said "V-O-I-T News", wahtever THAT is.
Took a message & disconnected.

same Agency; not always same number. These people called here from a Texas area code 2 days ago; from a Maine area code 1 week ago; from another Texas about 3 weeks ago..............
These guys get around, don't they?
And they NEVER have a number to give when asked for "a number you can be reached at".
They now immediately hang up when I ask them........

Relentless !!!   Calls from "15068", today from the 202-697-9044 number.  Asking for one particular person - who is NOT in IT.  I have advised them that I am able to make the decisions regarding IT services and requested that they stop calling our number.  They hung up on me.

This guy, who sounded like he was from India, called to tell me that I qualified for a $7,000 grant from the Government. Gave me this number to call and a code. Then asked if I wanted the money to go to my bank account or get it in cash. I said cash! Then he said, "Ok when we get off the phone just call the number I gave you and you can get your money."

Things to believe:

• There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
• If it sounds (or looks) too good to be true, it probably is.
• You have not won big bucks from a benign benefactor, a pot of pesos from PCH, dinero from a doctor, or a grant from a gracious government    <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
• The tooth fairy really does not exist
• Everything you read on the internet is not necessarily true.
• It is illegal to ask for money for a loan or prize, before awarding the loan or prize!
• "Free Trips" are loaded with mandatory & costly extras, and you usually must give them your card number after listening to a loooong spiel at a hotel.
• Microsoft or one of their agents did NOT cold call you to fix your computer.
• The moon is not made of green cheese.
• The IRS will snailmail you, rather than phone you, if there is a problem.
• Jackalope milk is not an aphrodisiac.
• If you "green dot", MoneyGram or Western Union money to a scammer, the money is gone.
• You should beware of Greeks bearing gifts, specially if the gift is a wooden horse with termites.

I reported this number to the FTC and if you haven't already I think that everyone on here should do the same because this is the only real way to do something about these people. Just posting negative things won't get us anywhere but calling and complaining after enough times will get us somewhere. If anyone is interested the number that you need to call is 1-877-382-4357. Kept this [***] on the phone for over 7 minutes, just to waste his time. Same scam as above. Said I won 7000 bucks grant money. Asked me all kinds of questions, to which I made stuff up. He then gave me this number to call back. Gave me a code to give the manager at this number. Scam, scam, scam. So sick of these people.
