- Pam| 1 reply4/29/15 @ 2:07 p.m. - Received call on my cell phone from man with a heavy Indian accent. When I answered, "hello", he was silent...I said "hello" again and he stated, "I am with the U. S. Grants Agency"...I waited for the B.S. to follow, but there was silence. When he didn't proceed and didn't hang up, I asked him in a gruff voice who he was trying to reach. He stuttered and then hung up the phone! Not sure what his scam is!
- BWReceived a call from this number at 9:41am Arizona Time on 4/30/2015. There was background noise which to me emulated some sort of a call center. Since the contact was done on my work cell phone, I addressed myself, and repeated "Hello" twice, no one made a vocal sound. Call disconnected after a total of 11 seconds.
- SherriI just received a call from a man with a heavy foreign accent telling me the same thing told to everyone else (I will receive $9000 in grant money..blah blah blah). The first man I spoke with disconnected my call because he said he could not hear me. I dialed the number back so I could get as much information from them as possible to report it online so anyone reading this understand this scam has been going on for years. I received my first call about 8-9 years ago.
I called the 202-697-9105 number back after being disconnected the first time and spoke with another man with a foreign accent telling me he works for the US Grants Department. He repeated his spill about me getting the grant money and what it could be used for and not used for. He then called himself verifying my information (age, zip code, and marital status). I lied about everything and he said it matched his records. LOL! He then gave me a "confirmation" number and 315-314-3200 telephone number to call back in order for this "grant money" to be send to me. - mrrecieved call @ 3:15pm est 4/30/15
He asked for a name of a man? I did not know person I told him he had wrong # he said No! I said yes! He hung up. - susanrThe telephone number and "dc" came up on my cell phone. I did not answer....as i did not recognize the #. It also said USA too.
- SeanI got a call from this number at 2:40PM on May 1, 2015. Nobody was there when I picked up, so I called back. The man that answered the phone had a thick Indian accent and was very rude. He barked in his thick accent, "What do you want?!" I said, "I dunno, you called me!", he then says, "No I didn't! What are you trying to pull?" or something to that affect. I asked him who he was, and he says to me, "I didn't call you! F@#$ you!", then he hung up. Albeit irritated getting cussed at by a complete stranger, I just brushed it off as no big deal, and didn't want to get involved. But I was curious enough to type in the number online, thus bringing me here... Whoever this random Indian man is, he seems like a real piece of sh*t.
- AnonymCalls all the time and hangs up. Soannoying
- angelMy daughter got this same call from same Indian man with a heavy accent who told me his name was James Wilson.. Said the govt was giving free grant money and asked what she would use it on and proceeded to tell us what she couldn't use it on ...like illegal stuff and then asked if we wanted it sent western union or to our bank.. Haha

- Nena.Same here static then a man with rough voice I said hello twice he hung up. I did not call back. Beacause I have read other situations where if you do that's when you get a charge on your bill somehow they Benoit from this. It's best not to answer unknown numbers. If they know you they will leave a message. Blocked this number.
- Caller: U.S. Grant department
- AlexanderI get a call from a man with an Indian accent. There was a lot of background noise, and he said he was from the US Federal Government. He told me that because of a national survey I had done, I had won a one in a lifetime grant for $9000. He said I needed to call 315-314-3033 with the code HF543, but the thing that tipped it off as a scam (besides the fact that the Feds do not call on the phone) was that he never asked me my name. It seemed odd, but my dad who works for the government said it was definitely a scam, and I found this site with all of the other stories from the same caller.
- Caller: faux U.S. Federal Government
- AnonymousThis is a scam! I quickly googled the phone number while talking to a heavily accented Indian woman and found several posts delcaring similar situations to mine. Here's a link you might find helpful: http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/if-the-us ... b57f_story.html

- Anonymousreceived a missed call on my cell phone, called it back and spoke to a lady with East India accent. Same spill as every else getting, 9,000 for being a good citizen. Of course I new it was a scam right away and called her on. She hung up on me.
I called back and got a male with same accent, decided to play along and and he reaffirmed that I qualified for being a good citizen. I then lied to him to see what he would say, and told him I had a couple of felonies 10 years ago, one for grand theft and one was for a robbery (again just a lie), he said if it happened 10 years ago, I still qualify as the survey was conducted 6 months ago. I've explained that what I could spend the money on, no alcohol or illegal stuff. I asked if I could open up a marijuana store in Washington State since marijuana was legal there. He said "Yes". I asked him it's okay even thought its Federally still illegal, the government would still let me spend the money on it. He said it would be fine.- Caller: U.S. federeal Grant Dept.

- Njust like everyone said i have received 2 missed calls from this number and when i called back the guy with the thick accent answered telling me he is a government agent and that ive been granted $5,000. i told him that i cant really understand his accent but he didnt really care. just kept going on and on with B.S and gave me a conformation number for the money and a phone number to call back. he asked about my age, zip code, marital status. i never called that number. it sounded like a scam. plus he sounded like a psycho
- Taylor replies to PamI got the same call. I knew it was a scam. He told me I would be getting $9,000 dollars from the government but I need to give him my full name, adress and social to him to confirm. I just hung up. He had a really thick accent and it was hard to understand him.
