Received call from 476-352-3632 indicating that I was to call the IRS at 202-697-9143 in reference to a pending legal issue. I have no legal issues with the IRS to my knowledge and have had no previous calls from the IRS. Believe this to be a Scam.

There is a widespread IRS or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

This has to be a scam. IRS never makes initial contact by telephone, always by U.S. Postal Service.

Got the same call 7:15 this morning. Knew it was scam. Googled 202-697-9143. Found you nice folks. You're all pretty savvy yourselves.

I received a call from 2-2-697-9143 that legal action was going to be taken out on me and that my Drivers Lin. and Bank Accounts would be seized.  I Do Not have any legal actions against me.

I did call them and it was a foreigner talking and would not let me speak except to tell him that I was Disabled.  He them proceeded to say he was sorry and at this time No Legal Action would be taken. I asked his name and it was Officer Peter Jackson.

-  they  are   also  impersonating  DEA  officials  /  IRS  /  FAKE  LAW  FIRMS   etc....  with  threats  to  arrest you  unless  you  immediately  send money  via  wire   transfer /  western  union   to some   offshore  country  !!!!!   obvious  scam  !!!

some  are landlines...many  are  cell phones...some  are  spoofed  and  linked  to  offshore foreign call centers  /  countries !!!!
we've  traced  back  most  of  these  numbers  to  offshore  foreign    call centers mostly  in   INDIA /  THAILAND / AFRICA  /  JAMAICA  ETC....

here's a  few  other  numbers  posted  from  the   same  area  code  offering a  wide  variety  of  scams  /  fake  emails and  scams  after  posting  something  on   craigslist   (  old  scam  )  ...... collecting  for  non  existant  "  payday  loans "....free  money / scam  giveaways /  calling  on  behalf  of  a  humane  society..... $1,000's  in  free  gov't  money.........  etc  etc.....stories  change  out  all the  time......and  the  usual  nonsense!!!

**   mysteriously  call to  claim  they  have  several  thousand  of  dollars  to  send  you / give ....just  provide  your  bank  account and  credit  card   right  away   etc etc.........scam scam

I just got a call from this number 202 697 9143 it is a scam

Received a call from 202-697-9713 with a female computerized voice stating this was the IRS with "final notice" and that a lawsuit has been filed against us. There had been no prior contact either by phone or snail mail which made me suspicious. Plus we have no unresolved tax issues anyway.

This is a scam. Do not call them back. They are trying to prey on good people (especially the elderly) who follow the law but don't know any better. This is the height of tax season so they are hedging their bets that you have some type of tax worry and may call them back to give out more of your financial info. Post here to help your fellow citizen or you can file a complaint using the FTC Complaint Assistant; choose “Other” and then “Imposter Scams.” If the complaint involves someone impersonating the IRS, include the words “IRS Telephone Scam” in the notes.

Got a call ,they left a message that I was sued by IRS  and to call them 202-697-9143

Caller ID said California 805-993-8144. Same scam said they were IRS filing suit against me today, to call back IRS directly at 202-697-9143 to get more information. BS!

Call from 202--697-9143 stating IRS has a lawsuit filed against me and this is the 'final notice".  This is a fraud.. The IRS never initiates contact by phone and we don't have any legal issues pending with them.

IRS SCAM

Had a voicemail telling me to call 202-967-9143, claiming the IRS has filed suit against me. It appears to be some sort of tax scam, though I have not (and don't plan to) called the number back. The call that led to the voicemail being left came from a different number, (855)-693-8344, which, if I'm not mistaken, is a call center number. The voice was clearly computer generated (very poorly so, might I add).

Received a call from 855-393-8044 and was left a message to call the IRS at 202-697-9143 for an outstanding lawsuit.  I have no outstanding issues with the IRS.

Message left for me asking me to call this number regarding IRS issue.  This has been reported on the local news several times recently.  The IRS WILL NOT CALL YOU .. they will send you a letter. It is a scam!!!!!!
