I have received several calls from this number.  Most were hangup.  I spoke to someone on Thursday, June 19, 2014 and told them I was not interested.  He became very agitated and hung up.  He was offering me $9,845.   The lady today offered me $9,000.  She gave me an app. # and the number to call back.  202-697-9368.  I think it is a hoax.

Recieved a call today from a person who claims I got a free gov.grant for 9,000$. They had me call 202 697 9368 and talk to a supervisor that had to release the funs.He told me to geta card so I could get the money but had to put a 100.00$ deposite on it so they could deposite the money I told him I have no money an he got mad an said dont call him again. Scammer

1. There is NO grant.
2. They would want money FROM YOU upfront - ILLEGAL!!!
3. The 202 area code is FAKED by a scammer who is probably not in the United States.

I received a call today from someone saying I had been awarded a gov grant for $9000.00. The call was from 202 378 7651 I was told to call 202 697 9368 to complete transaction.

some  are landlines...many  are  cell phones...some  are  spoofed  and  linked  to  offshore foreign call centers  /  countries !!!!
we've  traced  back  most  of  these  numbers  to  offshore  foreign    call centers mostly  in   INDIA /  THAILAND / AFRICA  /  JAMAICA /  NIGERIA    ETC....

here's a  few  other  numbers  posted  from  the   same  area  code  offering a  wide  variety  of  scams  /  fake  emails and  scams  after  posting  something  on   craigslist   (  old  scam  )  ...... collecting  for  non  existant  "  payday  loans "....free  money / scam  giveaways /  calling  on  behalf  of  a  humane  society..... $1,000's  in  free  gov't  money.........  etc  etc.....stories  change  out  all the  time......and  the  usual  nonsense!!!

OMG Dis is unbelievable i got a call grants dep that i was selected to recieved a grants 9000$ and they gave me a comfirmation number and told me to give a call to this number so i call up the number and gave my comfirmation number to Mr.Joe Lambert so he provide me al the neccessary information and i make a security depossit of 285$ after two hours i gotta kol from the  federal reserved bank of washington DC that my grants 9000$ has been tfansfered to the western union and they provide me the MTCN number strait away i rush down to the western union store finnally i came to know that i have recieved a grants 9000$ am really pleased god bless......

I can't prove that ALL 202 numbers are a scam, but I can prove that in this instance, THIS one was.

As per the Federal Grants website at http://www.grants.gov

It is a 100% SCAM!
There are threads all over this site about this SCAM! There are NO GRANTS!
The only grants the U.S. government offers are ones that people have to apply, and fight, for. They NEVER require money up-front for ANY reason! EVER!
Indian & Pakistani frauds have been working this scam for years. It's so well known that frauds from other countries are trying it now. Luckily, they're even more inept than the Indian frauds are. Ignore anyone calling about grants in the U.S.
