I received a call claiming they were IRS and that I was being sued. Follow these steps; Record the employee's name, badge number, call back number and caller ID if available.
Call 1-800-366-4484 to determine if the caller is an IRS employee with a legitimate need to contact you.
If the person calling you is an IRS employee, call them back.
If not, report the incident to TIGTA and to us at phishing@irs.gov (Subject: 'IRS Phone Scam')

Just don't answer these calls.  I wish I knew how to shut them down. Impersonated a federal agent and gave me a name William James, badge ID 939709 employee id 9852.  I hope they didn't steal a real agent's ID.

Received 3 calls on my cell phone.

I received a call from this 202# saying I was being sued by the IRS, this Arabic man that I couldn't really understand gave me a case # & I asked to speak to someone I could understand,  another Arabic man came on the phone & really couldn't understand him either.
He told me I had committed fraud against the IRS, but when I  asked for his # I'd he fumbled around.
(It was kinda weird that they Both had common American names, Eric White & Peter Mark?)
I said we hada bad connection & hung up & they called back on .you home # (which at 1st they called on my cell )
I didn't answer & am going to report them to the local police & the BBB.

I received a call from this number.  They told me i had a warrant from the irs for my arrest for not properly paying my 2008 taxes.  I told them i did not believe them and if this were true they can contact me in a legal way.  Then they hung up.

-  they  are   also  impersonating  DEA  officials  /  IRS  /  FAKE  LAW  FIRMS   etc....  with  threats  to  arrest you  unless  you  immediately  send money  via  wire   transfer /  western  union   to some   offshore  country  !!!!!   obvious  scam  !!!

some  are landlines...many  are  cell phones...some  are  spoofed  and  linked  to  offshore foreign call centers  /  countries !!!!
we've  traced  back  most  of  these  numbers  to  offshore  foreign    call centers mostly  in   INDIA /  THAILAND / AFRICA  /  JAMAICA  ETC....

here's a  few  other  numbers  posted  from  the   same  area  code  offering a  wide  variety  of  scams  /  fake  emails and  scams  after  posting  something  on   craigslist   (  old  scam  )  ...... collecting  for  non  existant  "  payday  loans "....free  money / scam  giveaways /  calling  on  behalf  of  a  humane  society..... $1,000's  in  free  gov't  money.........  etc  etc.....stories  change  out  all the  time......and  the  usual  nonsense!!!

**   mysteriously  call to  claim  they  have  several  thousand  of  dollars  to  send  you / give ....just  provide  your  bank  account and  credit  card   right  away   etc etc.........scam scam

Caller: "202" area  code  fake  calls ,  bogus / fraud  sca

Just got a call from this number. Was sweating bullets as he read off the things that were going to happen. Told me to pay off my warrant, which was being put on me as we spoke, and to pay all fines asap or else. Couldn't understand him. Some Arabic guy and keep asking to speak with someone I could understand but he wouldn't allow it. He said something and then hung up.

I received a call from this number.  They told me that there is a claim against me and I have to call them back to know the file number but it always busy number, I think it is a fake number...

I received a call saying I was being sued by the IRS and would be arrested within 2 hours if the IRS did not get their payment.  202-697-9608 was the phone number they called me from - It was a Washington DC number.  They answer thank you for calling the IRA.  He said his name was Eric White, ID # 669824     2010-2012 tax years
Owed 2458.30 and would have to go the bank to receive further instructions on how to make the payment.  He said you could not pay it directly over the internet.  Peter Morris the supervisor came on the line and said all of my accounts had been red flagged.

Total scam!  I didn't even bother calling back.  The IRS will always send you something in the mail first.

Complete scam!  Told me to go to my nearest bank because my account was "flagged" by the IRS.

My Wells Fargo personal banker was great!  He is of Asian Indian descent and know about this fraudulent activity.

This Washington DC number called and left a message for me to call them back as I was being sued. I called as being the good honest working person I am was freaking out.....I didn't get a person's name badge # or anything...and they only got my first name......they just told me I was being sued for my 2008 - 2012 taxes and that I owed over $2000.00. As soon as I said I needed to speak with my CPA they hung up on me.......I haven't been able to get a hold of them since.

Report the call, yes, but know right up front that the IRS does not call people about tax problems withough having first notified them by US mail.

No need to even question whether the caller is legitimate: he/she is not. As for calling them back, do NOT call back any number you are given via voice mail or verbal threat/message. Call the legitimate IRS, whose numbers you can locate on line.

Ignore the call and the message. It's a scam.

It IS a fake number; it's a scammer. Ignore the call and DON'T call back.

Don't bother to call them again. This is a well known scam, which you should have realized if you read any of the prior posts in this thread (or any of the dozens of other threads reporting on this scam.)

Google IRS SCAM, stop freaking out, and never call them again. Block the number if you can, or at least ignore it.

I know you meant well with your lengthy post, but your list of numbers is essentially useless. Did you think anyone would come back to the list and check them all?

Received call from 202 697-9608. Female automated voice stating I was being sued by the IRS. Called the number and a man in foreign voice used my correct name. I said yes, I am her. Then he said, hold on, I will get your case number. Then he hung up on me. So I called again and spoke with a man with an Indian voice. He told me I was being sued by the IRS for taxes done incorrectly in 2009 thru 2011. I owed $4279.00 and that it was too late for repayment and there was an warrant out for my arrest. for tax fraud. So I am literally freaking out. Luckily my husband looked up the number and found out this has happened to others and is a scam. Thank God!!!!! I was so scared. Never been in trouble, am 65 years old and he told me I would be in jail for 5 years and I need a lawyer. Don't fall for this and have a nervous breakdown like I almost did.

Received a bad english automated call saying IRS Filed Law Suit call back this number so did person asked for my name I said you called me you should know my name he hung up. I called back and now the number has my phone number blocked it rings 1 time and then busy. I had so hoped I could play with them a little but but I guess they don't want to play. Total Scam, Contacted IRS. There voice message was as follow:

"The Reason for this call is to inform you that IRS is filing law suit against you, to get more information about this case file please call immediately on our department number 202-697-9608 I repeat 202-697-9608 Thank you."

My husband answered the phone and was told he is being sued by the IRS.  We received 3 of these calls today.
