This was left on cell voicemail and work voicemail. He left the 2027156645 number as a return call number. The gentlemam told me his name was Officer Chris Williams and and that a lawsuit had been filied against my name and ssn. When I called him back I told him I had a law group working for me and that was that. i contacted the law group thats working for me and they offered good advice.

I have gotten to the point where I don't pick up an call from a caller or number I don't recognize.  I got a call from a 214 area code three times with the same message:  "The IRS is going to file suit against you."  I got on the IRS website and it had a big warning about scammers, that the IRS never calls, always sends certified mail.  So I called this guy back -- he read from a script...ending in "have a happy life;  the police will be at your door" -- and I told him I knew he was a scam.  He yelled at me.  I called him back and told him I had reported him and his number to the FBI and the IRS, at which point he threatened my life (from Ada, Texas).  Then I really did call the FBI and IRS.  I did happen to ask if, as this number was all over the net with people reporting this same scam with this same script they hadn't done anything about it.  They said the real numbers were constantly changing and it was difficult to get them.  I got through to this guy, and knew he was on a landline in Ada, Texas, so I politely asked the IRS why they couldn't get him... Guess we're on our own with these people...

What else to do? DO NOT PAY THEM THEY ARE SCAMMERS. No legitimate collections claim may be legally submitted over the phone. They MUST submit proof of debt and provide the means to pay, in writing, at your physical address e.g. serve papers or at least a formal letter. You'd know if you really owed the money right?

Guys, there is literally no such federal agency as Fraud and Theft Recovery Bureau. Even if they were a legitimate fed agency, they wouldn't do business over the phone. Summonses and other legal notice MUST be provided in writing and in person. Furthermore, the federal government does NOT collect business loans or private debts.

What was the address you went to?  Because there's NO SUCH THING as the Fraud and Theft Recovery Bureau. Either you're a scammer working with them, or you know a physical address the police can go to arrest them.
