i got a call saying that i was selected for a $ 9,000 grant which i had to pay $ 325 to secure the funds and i would get the deposit plus the grant at $ 9,325.. The lady went by "NANCY COOPER"...She sounded indian with a last name cooper...smh...due to filling out applications i almost fell for the scam...

was her name NANCY?

i got a call saying that i was selected for a $ 9,000 grant which i could receive western union but first i would have to make a call to Nancy Cooper at 202-738-1398 the original call actually came from 416-364-1111 i never called Ms Cooper because it did not sound right

I got a call from a number where the lady give me this number 202-738-1398 to call.she also said I will receive $9000. I called this number. she is NANCY COOPER. She told me to make a deposit of $300 through western union. and I did that they took my bank account no and said they will make transaction to my account $9,300. but then another person call me . he said he is from federal reserve bank and his name is MAX NUMEN. He said I have to give the state tax of $534. Then my transaction will be completed. but it didnt sound good. thats why i didnt proceed. But I already lose my $324. Is there any suggestion how can I get that money back. They said they are from federal grant department which made me confused.

Since you paid it to a scammer in India,  my guess is that you can kiss it good bye.  Your chances of getting more than a hard hitting lesson is slim to none.

omg! this happen to me! I called the nancy women back and told her i new she was a scammer she yelled at me and hung up the phone. she said , "I'm not a scammer!" with a very deep accent..

I got a call like this but the number that showed was 020-08. Same thing happened I would get 9,000 dollars and she told me why I was getting the grant money. So she told me I needed to call her manger. By the way her name was Amy Lee and she was calling from United States Government Grant Dept of Washington DC. So I called her manger Who went by Jess Conner, he gave me the whole run down as to what I needed to do to get the 9,000 and it was to pay 227 to process it and they would give it right back after i was confirmed. the number that I called him on is the number listed above. Why do ppl have to be so dam un human.

This number just called me, saying the same thing all of you have said. Thank you all for the info. Now even though I need money, I will not be a victim to these scamers.

I got a call from 202-738-1398 saying I got 5,000 in grant money but asked for a processing fee of 236.00 from Jeff Conners. I Reply I don't have that on me and why do I have to pay on something that is free. He got mad gave some bs excuse.Didn't sound right when have you ever heard of Jeff Conners having an Indian ascent. Not me good thing I be in college before and know thag grant money is always free. Nice try though LOL

-  they  are   also  impersonating  DEA  officials  /  IRS  /  FAKE  LAW  FIRMS   etc....  with  threats  to  arrest you  unless  you  immediately  send money  via  wire   transfer /  western  union   to some   offshore  country  !!!!!   obvious  scam  !!!

some  are landlines...many  are  cell phones...some  are  spoofed  and  linked  to  offshore foreign call centers  /  countries !!!!
we've  traced  back  most  of  these  numbers  to  offshore  foreign    call centers mostly  in   INDIA /  THAILAND / AFRICA  /  JAMAICA  ETC....

here's a  few  other  numbers  posted  from  the   same  area  code  offering a  wide  variety  of  scams  /  fake  emails and  scams  after  posting  something  on   craigslist   (  old  scam  )  ...... collecting  for  non  existant  "  payday  loans "....free  money / scam  giveaways /  calling  on  behalf  of  a  humane  society..... $1,000's  in  free  gov't  money.........  etc  etc.....stories  change  out  all the  time......and  the  usual  nonsense!!!

**   mysteriously  call to  claim  they  have  several  thousand  of  dollars  to  send  you / give ....just  provide  your  bank  account and  credit  card   right  away   etc etc.........scam scam

Got a call saying they have $5,000 grant for me,right.Wasn't born yesterday,not falling for the o-key-doke.Ph# was 202-738-1398.

Got a call from NANCY COOPER & told to call 202-657-6708 to receive $10,200 in grant money. SCAM!

They called me an hour ago from this number (315) 515-4272 i dont remember the name they used they said i had to give them 250 to secure my 9000 i told them to use 250 from the 9000 and they said they couldnt had cause they had to make sure i was the right person i hanged up the phone
