Called my cell #, which I only give to friends. I didn't recognize so I didn't pickup. No message left. Assume it's a telemarketer going through the numbers.

Just called my cell.  Telemarketer telling me I won a cruise.

Hmmm...called me this morning. ..April 1rst.  And the first reports are only a few days ago on March 26th.   Because there is hardly any history then the caller is either new to the game or its another Spoofer with nothing better to do.   I believe it the latter.

Says its verizon wireless.

1st call today, rang three times and than hung up.  But, was funny reading other calls because I did find a voicemail on cellphone today too about winning a cruise, phone was off, so can not be sure of calling number.  It could be the same people as I have had that happen a couple of times before where calls to cell and home number were the same.  Strange how they get both numbers and call them both in same day.

got a mistery call from this morning yesterday (April 2, 2015).  Was trying to find out who is the caller when I found out via this site that it's a telemarketer.  So, thank you.

Called this morning on my cell, came up as wireless caller, Washington DC.
rang maybe 3 times and they hung up.
no voice mail.

Received call from # that is not on my contacts list, so I did not answer. No voice mail message left.

Called my office number to tell me that I'd won a trip to the Bahamas.

it's a Verizon number but now it says it has been disconnected.

Just received a call from this number. Came up as Cell Phone DC 1-202-740-8907. No voicemail left. I googled the phone number and found this forum - I noticed that just 30 minutes ago, someone posted on this site that the number was disconnected. Odd because I had just received a call from them moments before. I tried calling the number back and, sure enough, the Verizon recording I got said the number had been disconnected.

Received a call just now on my cell.  I was on the other line so didn't answer but they did not leave a message.

Just received a call from this number.  Didn't recognize it, so I didn't answer.  No VM message left.  Now I'm blocking the number.

Claimed I stayed at their resort in the past. Baloney, I never give the number they called at hotels not to mention they didn't give a resort name. Went on about some offer I didn't listen to then asked yes and no questions to which I just laughed. So they were using one of those voice recognition bots. He asked if I had a credit card and was I over 21. Don't know if it was a phishing scam or some junk sales garbage for a timeshare. Disgusting either way.

No doubt they are using a disguised number. They aren't really calling from the number on the caller ID. That alone should be illegal.

FCC rules on caller ID spoofing

Under the Truth in Caller ID Act,  FCC rules:

Prohibit any person or entity from transmitting misleading or inaccurate caller ID information with the intent to defraud, cause harm, or wrongfully obtain anything of value.
Subject violators to a penalty of up to $10,000 for each violation of the rules.
Exempt authorized activities by law enforcement agencies and situations where courts have authorized caller ID manipulation to occur.

Just received a phone call from this number.  Says it is from Washington, DC.  When I answered it there was nobody there.  Not sure if I got to the phone in time and there was no voicemail left.
