Got this call this morning at 9:15 a.m., disrupting an otherwise peaceful morning.  No message.  Ever since I signed up for the Do Not Call list, I get MORE unwanted calls like this.  That's cause certain organizations, like charities, political campaigns, and survey groups are exempt from not calling you, since they are not selling you something.

Whether this was really American Lung Society or a phishing scam with someone posing as them, I'd never give to a charity over the phone.  (Since it could be anybody)  I'd contact them directly.  Same as I'd never give to someone sitting at a table outside the grocery store.

Several calls a day from morning Iowa 9 central time. Reads Lung  American. I have never answered. Very annoying.

called at 5 ish i don't believe that this is american lung and we don't give by phone solicitation anyway. our paper says to be very aware of scams which are becoming more and more prevalient. i trust noone anymore .i won't open my door to anyone anymore. this is how we have to live now. so far i have used my phone about 5 times this month and the pests many times more. did see an interesting ad for a prepaid phone. i could live without the internet.

Caller I.D. says American Lung Ass... D**n give it up already. Feb. 6th 3:03pm, 7th 3:21pm, 11th 9:35am  and 2:21pm, 12th 9:54am and 12:45pm, 13th 9:39am and 12:17pm again at 2:48pm, 14th 1:30pm, 15th 10:22am and 12:49pm, 16th 10:20am and 12:53pm. That's 14 times so far, what is so important to call that many times, no message.   Making good use of the non-profit exemption form DNC.  Put the phone on block after the fourth call. Best thing is the phone will still record the caller and number.  No profit here.

Leave me alone!!!

They also call from (630) 491-0178 and (758) 358-9546.  I have a suspicion it's not really American Lung but a scam.  They've been calling me since Dec of last year, and ALWAYS at night when I'm trying to unwind OR when I'm expecting a really important phone call.

Never any message and I never picked up, not even to tell them not to call me.  Whether it's a legit charity (if so they are exempt from Do Not Calls) or a scam, I don't want to talk them.

Copying what I just wrote under another number they called so it at least gets documented for what its worth. As noted in Victoria's entry its a pain when expecting important calls. If they truly are non-profit how much does it cost for them to be using all these numbers(?)

Multiple calls all hours but stops after 10 pm.

Belong to a telemarketing group known as Strategic Fundraising  calling for American Lung Association.

I tried calling the number pressing 2# the 2# and entering 202-747-7305 (10 digit phone number)
Usually it will then take your number off call list.
I tried with three different numbers  didn't work with this group.

Just got another call. Live Body! They said my first name I said take me off - Call Disconnected.

Same voice has called from three different numbers today.  All three number have different area codes from one coast to the other.  Evidently the clown doesn't hear the answering machine message because he just keeps asking for an elderly resident by name.

We do support several well known charities but this one seems like a scam to us.  Why is their number showing up with an area code of 202 and not with an 800 number?  I'll check out the web site for the American Lung Association to see if this number is listed. I  betcha it's not!!

I think we'll be blocking this number!

I called the number back after getting a lot of calls.  The answering machine said it was a company (I forget the name) that does fund raising for nonprofits and political organizations.  It offered me the opportunity to have my name put on their do not call list.  I was a little hesitant to give them my number, but since they were calling anyway, I did.  The message said I would be taken off the list in 48 hours.  We shall see.

Called at 8:45 PM. I didn't answer. Looked them up here and then added them to my reject list.

Whether it's really American Lung Association or a phishing scam, I never answer.  These people have called me before, earlier this year.  They called from different numbers, several times a day, EVERY day for months just before their fundraising event in April.

They started calling me again last night and again this morning.  One call at 7:45 p.m. last night, one at 8:30 a.m. this morning.  I hung up on them both times.

I get a lot of these unwanted calls.  Charities are "exempt" from Do Not Call list.  (I'm on it)  So are survey companies and political campaigns.  I get them all.  I never answer.  They never say anything.

Now that it's the end of the year, they are going to get more aggressive about donations.

After their first call, and researching them on Google, I blocked them. Since then, they have called (as shown on my call log) four more times, including once at 8:30 AM. I used to donate to the American Lung Ass'n., but if they want to use these types of fundraising practices, they're permanently off my list .

I receive calls from the above number, 202-747-7305 (American Lung) at least three times a day.  This is out of control!!  We are on the "Do Not Call" list but this number interferes with our family time.  This is harassment!!  I would like for the calls to stop immediately.

They have called 9 times in the last few days. I have tried to tell them to stop calling but they have called 3 times since I told them to not call me again!
We can try filing complaints but it could take years before they take action.

I have gotten calls from at least 6 "charity" organizations in the last 2 weeks. Most are really scams. But it doesn't matter since I never give any money to any organization that calls me, and I would never give a penny to any legit organization that ignores what I tell them, no matter what it's for.

Has been calling anywhere from once to 3x daily.  No message.

Follow-up. After days of multiple calls (all of which were blocked) I e-mailed them to tell them that I'd never donate to them again. They wrote back and said they'd remove my number from their list. The calls continue ... I've NEVER been harassed so much by one caller. Usually if there's no answer or it's obviously blocked they go away. Not these people. Anyone who works for this organization should be ashamed to be affiliated with people that use such tactics.

I know charities are exempt from the "Do Not Call" rules, but there must be some other way to force them to stop bothering me!
