has any received threatening tele calls from this number?  the guy has a heavy accent, difficult to understand, claims he is a police officer and that he is ready to sue.

you are lucky he left no message.....claims to be a police officer ....should have kept the tele message and reported this to dc police dept.

Asking for my spouse, this man claims to be officer Steve Watson of the Crime Investigation Branch of the Federal Government.  He mentioned that there are legal issues related to our financial claims with IRS. Suspecting that this was a fraud call,  another person with heavy accent claiming to be Officer.... elaborates on the legal issues and we have an opportunity to settle out of the court or go to jail. When I said that we have not received any communication from IRS, he asked if we are ready to go the jail and stated that he has the capacity to put in the jail.

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today warned consumers about a sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, throughout the country.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver’s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.

“This scam has hit taxpayers in nearly every state in the country.  We want to educate taxpayers so they can help protect themselves.  Rest assured, we do not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer,” says IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel. “If someone unexpectedly calls claiming to be from the IRS and threatens police arrest, deportation or license revocation if you don’t pay immediately, that is a sign that it really isn’t the IRS calling.” Werfel noted that the first IRS contact with taxpayers on a tax issue is likely to occur via mail
Other characteristics of this scam include:
Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim’s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it’s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver’s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here’s what you should do:
If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue – if there really is such an issue.
If you know you don’t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you’ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.
If you’ve been targeted by this scam, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their “FTC Complaint Assistant” at FTC.gov.  Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.
Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.
The IRS encourages taxpayers to be vigilant against phone and email scams that use the IRS as a lure. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information.  This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. The IRS also does not ask for PINs, passwords or similar confidential access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail tophishing@irs.gov.

Someone with thick accent called my house.I ws away.my granddaughter picked up phone. The man said your grandpa
is in jail.When I came home I called this number. There were lot of background noises.The voice said wwhy you called, He said dont waste my time. Very aggitated and angry voice. They are harassing us.

Called asking for me and said that his name is Charlie Jackson and he is calling from Federal Crimes Department and that he wants to talk to me because there is a case against me. He gave his name and number to my wife  and asked to call back and then he disconnected.

The guy was pretending to be an official collecting IRS money threatened me with an arrest warrant and revoke my citizenship.  The government needs to shut them down.

This so called office Kevin Wilson left me 2 messages asking to call him about Federal case against me. if I didn't call back he will hand over my case to my local police dept. I was waiting for local police to come but no one showed up. I knew this is a scam because there was another call came in about month ago. That one I called them and scolded them. the person calling from India. I can understand very well because I am from there too. When I cursed him over the phone so he hang up. Do Not call these guys. Also don't get afraid of them. If they feel you are scared of their call then they take advantage. talk to them very rudly. do not show any nice guestures. You know you have to kill poison by poison only.

I just got a call from this number. Exactly the same as you are writing here. First thing I did is google'd the number. He is trying to scam and I bet he is successful every now and again. What to do?

Same story this pm.  The callers pretends that he is officer Kevin Wilson calling from 202-754-8075 left a message that their is a loss complaint against me and will need to talk to me immediately otherwise I will loose my federal rights.  The Caller had an Indian accent and after calling the number back and got that the person is on the other line,  cant leave a message and an error occurred and the line hangs up.

ANOTHER SCAM......

I received a call from Harry Wade "Fed Bureau of Crime.  Saying there is a ending investigation against me. If I don;t call
police is going to come and arrest me.

I too received a similar call from this number,  Below is the text of the voicemail that was left from this number on my phone:


" This is lead investigator officer Ray Jackson calling you from Federal crime investigation Department now but reason(?) to give you a call just to give you a verbal on if you get thing that right now. That was the lots of complaint file against you and russell-gilkey-case(?) going on to your name and on to your ID in the store before something goes wrong against you. I want you to step down Junior with-for(?) yeah staples department and surrender your self. our-hours(?) get back to me immediately on my number which is 2027548075. Pager number once again make sure the number is 2027548075. Feel free to call back on my number any five-in-sue(?) calling from your site and I'm sorry I will start my legal procedure against you and I will stand up for our E dot."

Got a call from this number 2027548075 and said something about a warrant and he is a federal officer.  Called back, it went to a  voice mail box that was full and could not take any messages.  He had a very thick accent and spoke slow like he was mentally ill.  Name was Steve Watson.

My wife received a similar call from this number 2027548075  saying I was involved in all kinds of criminal activities and asked us to provide information like SSN, DOB, etc, otherwise he would report us to the police. The man had a thick accent. My wife immediately went over to our local police department to complain. The police did a check and let her know that this was a known scam. My wife ended up wasting over 2 hours of her time because of this.  I hope the authorities can catch the people involved in this scam

I got the same kind of message that some kind of a problem with some affidavit I signed ans I know that I never signed any affidavit.

Today I god a message from the same scammers 202 754 8075 with more or less the same as dscribed in the email on this website.  The lady spoke with heavy Indian accent and from the beginning I knew that they are scammers.  IRS doesnt need tax collectors .  They are  the ultimate tax collectors .

IMy question: is it really hard for our FBI , NSA or  whoever to track down those scammers and arrest them.

I just got call from this number. He left a message saying he was police officer, and threatening me with identity fraud. Said that I have to call him right away to rectify the situation or face consequences. I guessed it was a scam. I still have the recording. What should I do?

Just received a message from 202 754 8057 saying they are from the FBI and that they have a case against me. Thanks to this notice board I now know it is a scam. I may still call them and blast their you know what.

I received the call this AM my husbanb picked the call the lady stated she's "Lara woods" calling regarding your wife's federal background check and asked me to call back at 202 754 8057.

I called back and a person by name Brad picked my call and said he's the supervisor to Lara woods and stated he's the federal investigation officer. He's a thick indian accent and I could hear noises in the backround people are communication in Hindhi language. This is totally a big scam.
