    Hate spam calls
Did not answer but have found no information for such a number online so I can ONLY assume it is just another spoofed number used by scammers and does not really exist.

I never answer the phone from unknown callers like this one! I just turn off my answering machine and let the phone ring and ring (ha, ha, to waste their time).

It doesn't really waste their time because these are almost always made via computer.  In some cases the call is only made to validate that it the number rings.  In other cases, the computer only sends a ring tone to the call center once someone answers the number - that's why there is often a delay when you answer these calls.

They are very efficient systems and you really aren't wasting their time - they're playing a game of odds and making hundreds of calls per day.

This is ostensibly from a Veteran's support organization.  However, when I notified the caller that I was recording our conversation for training and law enforcement purposes, he said, "Maybe you can help out in the next campaign.  Goodbye." and he hung up.

Totally scam call.   The caller claims to be from American Veterans Support Foundation.  The clerk will not permit recording of the conversation, will not reveal the address of the organization, hangs up if challenged, and is obviously reading a script, looking for donations.  This is a criminal organization masquerading as a charity.  Do not give them your money -- it will not go to veterans, but the pockets of scammers.

I didn't answer, and the caller hung up on the third or fourth ring.

Wash DC Call -- left no message -- An obvious scammer, as I'm getting repeat calls around the same time of day from different states.

Apparently another sketchy "Veterans Charity" solicitor. Received a call from 202-817-2927 on 07/01/2014 at 6:58 PM, caller name ID read as "Unavailable." We have been receiving a rash of calls from this organization which I believe to be National Vietnam Veterans Foundation, Inc. D/B/A American Veterans Support Foundation (J. Thomas Burch Jr., President). They call from dozens of telephone numbers in the following area codes: 202, 240, 301, 443, 571, and 650. These calls do originate domestically, but they hide behind the cloak of a 501(c)3 organization so they are exempt from the National Do Not Call List. All we can do is block the telephone numbers, and that is why they are utilizing a wide variety of ever-changing numbers.

I get calls from this number starting at 8:00am. I will not answer for one that early and two the caller ID say unknown and they never leave a message. With all the times they call I know it has to be a solicitor or a scam.

A false Veteran's support group. They watch the news and know that the VA is a mess and that many vets need help so they figure to capitalize off of it by tugging at people's heart strings. I belong to the Legion and the VFW and no one knows who these people are but they aren't legit that's for sure.

I've never answered these guys since I've read this thread (Thanks Everybody). They seem to call in streaks, one day several calls then none for a week, then it starts over again.

This call came in at 8:33PM CDT on July 14, 2014.  CID said:  Washington, DC and the phone number.  It rang 3-4 times and then disconnected.  I never answer calls from names I don't recognize or places that I do not normally have contacts.  I keep my answering machine turned off when I am at home  My answering machine will turn itself on if the caller rings 15 or more times.  On those rare instances when the caller rings many times, I prevent it from turning itself on my turning it 'On' for a second or two and then 'Off' again.  A few months ago I had to replace my bedroom phone.  I purchased one with built in Call Blocking.  It is a Panasonic KX-TG7873S. It must be an older model because I got it on a Clearance rack at Target for around $90, down from $140.  It blocks 250 numbers.  Whenever I get a call that I suspect being a scam, I immediately go to this site and post the details.  Then I block the number.  It seems to be helping.  A few of the scammers continue to call for  3 or 4 mores times, but they soon remove my number from their list.  I realize that they probably continue to call me from new numbers, but this is the best I can do to protect myself.  I encourage anyone that needs a new phone and can afford the one-time expense to look into getting a phone/answering system that includes the call blocking feature.  I'm sure there are many makes and models on the market.

Had been receiving numerous calls from this number with no message left.  I inadvertently picked it up on July 12 at 6:29 pm.  Caller I.D. said Washington, DC.  Caller said he was calling for American Veterans Support Foundation and asked me to help them out.  Then I hung up.  They have called numerous times , so I will be sure to never answer this one again.
