Claiming to be an officer for the federal crime investigation unit. Couldnt quite understand the whole message as she spoke broken English. You can tell she is from another country I also got a call from 201-506-9194 claiming to be from the IRS . Again, you can tell they are not well spoken in the English language. Im sick of blocking all these calls. They seem to have hundreds of numbers. Why cant the FCC do anything about it. My number is on the do not call registry. A lot of good that does.

Scam after scam. Who are these people claiming to work for the FBI and IRS and you must get back to them. They cant even speak English well enough to understand the entire message they leave you. What is the FCC or FBI doing about this.

Not much.  The scammer/extortionists are located in India.  They are criminals and ignore US law.   The US government can't do anything and the Indian government won't do much.

Got a call today as well, they left a message claiming to be from the IRS and that they are filing a suit against me. This is a scam. The IRS will never contact you by phone.

Same story, IRS is filing a lawsuit. Automated message so that you can't even pick up the phone to tell them to take a hike. Caller ID says New York 845-786-8730.

I also got a telephone call from 202-864-1121 from a robo call. The message didn't say who they were searching for. They claim that they were from the IRS and they were filing a lawsuit against me. I know I have no issues with my taxes so this has to be a scam. Don't bother calling them since from these recent posts. I wished who I can report this too so they can be shut down.

Received robocall voice mail today from (according to Caller ID) New York 716-886-9358. Message said the IRS was going to file a lawsuit against me and I needed to call 202-864-1121 right away.  I immediately filed a complaint at donotcall.gov.

Caller ID read New York 718-201-2256. In Chinese accent, a lady left a voice mail informing me of a lawsuit by IRS and to call this number. A scam. Probably by Chinese companies making call blockers that don't work.

I already own a Panasonic KXTG6841B which blocks 250 numbers with first ring silent to block without disturbance - I added this new number too.

This is a Pakistan or India based IRS scam. Do not fall for it. The IRS does not initiate any legal action via phone.
    Read http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/press/press_tigta-2014-03.htm

As general background information, here are a few things you can do:

    1) Report it to TIGTA under http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml especially if you have become a victim (lost money, gave personal information etc.). You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/complaint (include “IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint). This way you can also help the government establish specific fraud patterns.

    2) Help kill their phone lines but not by calling them back directly (the number may be spoofed and repeat calls by you may - under exceptional circumstances - amount to harassment). The scammers use Voice over IP lines (e.g. magicJack (Ymax corporation)) to make it seem as if they are calling from the US. This is always against these companys' terms of service and can lead to immediate termination of their contract and blocking of their IP addresses for future attempts to register. Do a reverse look up of their telephone number (e.g. www.whitepages.com) to identify the Voice over IP provider and report it to the company and/or law enforcement (local police and/or state attorney general)

    3) If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction and provide US law enforcement agencies with the political backing and the resources they need to work in India and Pakistan together with local authorities (it can happen, read: http://m.ndtv.com/article/india/ex-call-centr ... mmission-320427). A US task force has already been set up in Jamaica to nab scammers there (see http://www.ice.gov/doclib/news/library/reports/cornerstone/cornerstone7-1.pdf). I also receive the called, stated that the IRS has filed the lawsuit against me, and asked me to call the number 202-864-1121. I filed the tax returns every year. It's all current. I have background check with federal governments and commercial business.  I feel suspicious to begin with. This is such an serious matter. I should have received the "WRITTEN NOTICE" officially from IRS, not just a simple phone call and "indirectly" to call the that 202 number.  I just want to confirm my suspicion. I called that number. The male rep.  first asked my phone number. I responded. But, when the male rep. asked me my name. I asked "what is this all about ? Please tell me." The phone quickly was hung up.  It's a scam based on the reaction from the other side of the rep. It's not handled from the professional way!.  It's a SCAM!
