A fraudulent phone call message left this no. 202-864-1149 as a call back number. Of course I will not waste my time on it.

An automatic machine left a message on my voice mail saying the IRS is suing me and I need to call back on this number.  The caller ID showed the call was from 8459281836.

Received a message sounds like a computer in female voice saying IRS is going to sue you, and IRS has been trying to reach you, this is the final call, need to call back to this number, 202-864-1149, to settle down.

This is a Pakistan or India based IRS scam. Do not fall for it. The IRS does not initiate any legal action via phone.

As general background information, here are a few things you can do:

1) Report it to TIGTA under http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact_report_scam.shtml especially if you have become a victim (lost money, gave personal information etc.). You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/complaint (include “IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint). This way you can also help the government establish specific fraud patterns.

2) Help kill their phone lines but not by calling them back directly (the number may be spoofed and repeat calls by you may - under exceptional circumstances - amount to harassment). The scammers use Voice over IP lines (e.g. magicJack (Ymax corporation)) to make it seem as if they are calling from the US. This is always against these companys' terms of service and can lead to immediate termination of their contract and blocking of their IP addresses for future attempts to register. Do a reverse look up of their telephone number (e.g. www.whitepages.com) to identify the Voice over IP provider and report it to the company and/or law enforcement (local police and/or state attorney general)

3) If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction and provide US law enforcement agencies with the political backing and the resources they need to work in India and Pakistan together with local authorities (it can happen, read: http://m.ndtv.com/article/india/ex-call-centr ... mmission-320427). A US task force has already been set up in Jamaica to nab scammers there (see http://www.ice.gov/doclib/news/library/reports/cornerstone/cornerstone7-1.pdf). Got a call from Carbondale, Ill - 618.529.9140. Said I am being sued by the IRS or Internal Revenue Services.  That's right services plural and I need to call 202.864.1149 because this is my last notice.  RIGHT

Today 10/22/4 9:32 am from fone # 630-924-9152 - left a pre-recorded message - 1st time receive a call from any solicitor that was a woman's voice with no Indian/foreign accent!! :

"Hello, We have been trying to reach you, This call is officially a final notice from IRS - Internal Revenue Services.
The reason of this call is to inform you that IRS is filing a law suit against you. To get more information about this case file please call immediately on our dept # 202-864-1149 I repeat 202-864-1149 thank you."

Coincidence I remember the call back # with an Indian accent fellow named Sam Taylor - saying to call back Litigation Services, don't try to ignore this call...

hmmm... Hope no one falls for this scam either...

Got a call from 845 928 2408  telling us to call back 202 864 1149 as irs has a claim against us...BEWARE of these scams--IRS sends letters--

Got a call from 845-469-9827 telling me call 202-864-1149 as the IRS is sueing me and that the call was my final notice. So annoying!!!

Same IRS scam.   Said to call back at 202-864-1149  but caller id showed 210-824-0171

Got a call from 1766899717 telling me call 202-864-1149 as the IRS is sueing me and that the call was my final notice. So annoying!!!

Said my asset will be froze and i will be jailed for 72 hours. i asked for information on about why i did not receive letter from court if IRS suing me. I got response that IRS does not send any such letters at your door step. They wanted me to pay over phone.

So told them That I will wait for the cops to show up at my door step. also calling IRS and letting them know about this number.

A voice message left on my home phone from 310-510-9153, a female stated that this is the final call from IRS that they have a law suit against me, that I need to call back 202-864-1149 immediately.

IRS scam again! I have received 15 different calls since May. I contacted Magic Jack and they said this was not one of their numbers. I am trying to find out the name of their carrier and report them. I really wish the IRS would do something about this. It's very annoying!!!

I got the same voice message....and my caller id shown the call was from 845-928-2408!

This is a scam number. hope nobody return the call. Irs do not call you.
