I missed this call at 2:34 pm today.  Caller left no message, so I can't say for certain, but based on the above information...

I recently canceled internet service with RCN because they have been providing incredibly poor connection AND customer service.  Their financial department doesn't talk to their billing department.  Each has been providing me different information about my bill.

RCN, you dummies, we're on to you.  You are a terrible company.  I have informed everyone I know not to work with you.

I have never dealt with RCN, so I wonder who this could be?  I suspect its Portfolio Recovery Associates.  They claim an old debt which I don't know and won't let go (they have hundreds of numbers).  Block them, it's the only way.

I am now getting sometimes 3 calls a day.  I have never had RCN but the recording msg states my bill is overdue.  One time only I answered and got a person.  He said he would remove the number but 2 hours later I got another call.

Never had relationship with RCN, this must be Portfolio Recovery.  No debt there either, however, it doesn't matter: they're not looking to know that, their computers tell them one thing and they auto dial until you say "uncle."  Block them.  It's easy and they ultimately cannot win.

Yep, this is RCN Financial Services.  They use a Washington, DC phone number to make them look "official".  I have RCN as my cable and Internet provider.  Their prices are so-so but their service is horrible.  I've had issues with my DVR since day one and they don't care one iota about customer service.  Their installers are a band of pirates who try and shake customers down for "cash" when they come out to the house.  I've reported it to RCN but things never seem to change.  Unfortunately it's either RCN or Comcast in this market so I've gone with the lesser of two evils.  Unless you pay your bill in its entirety within 5 days of receipt, be prepared.  When it comes to collecting cash, RCN is efficient.  Too bad they don't feel that way about the actual service they provide.

    RCN Financial Services (202) 870-5860:
When it comes to collecting money, RCN's Policy is, if we cant collect it, get the verizon book we found and Call a Verizon Customer.   RCNs cable and Internet Services is operated by the same well oiled machine, that runs its accounts receivables. RCN is BUNDLED way to tight.

Same deal - quick HU.  I figured it was RCN from the area code.  I'm good but I still get these calls so it must be that 3rd party - Portfolio Recovery. Stupid but RCN is the cheapest in my area.

According to all the posts here, I do believe it was RCN. I didn't recognize the phone number & I didn't answer it. It came up as "district of Columbia". And since I know absolutely no one from there, I didn't bother.
