- JohnThe callers are the American Institute For Cancer Research (AICR), one of the very lowest rated of all charities because of the fact that very little, or any, of the donated monies goes toward cancer projects, but into the pockets of the organizers and paid telemarketers. Besides being BIG scammers they are perpetual pests with their repeated calls, while never even leaving a message --a warning sign that this supposed "charity" is not legitimate! There is no day of rest for these devious scammers, as they bother us with their fraudulent calls, even on Sundays! A "charity" that surely is to be avoided!

- P JoI see the # on caller id. Pick up just to hang up on them.
- Warren| 2 repliesThe AICR is a phoney "charity" that takes donations away from legitimate charities, and gives a bad name, and leads to suspicion of all charities! These lowlifes should put all the energy they put into scamming to use doing something that aids society, not detracts!

- Karen replies to Warren| 1 replyAICR - they have been calling since the middle of October almost every day starting at 8:25 a.m. using (202) 888 and the following extensions:9418,9537,9627,3126,0621,2764, and 0632. They do not leave a message but if you call the number is says it is the annual campaign for the American Institute of Cancer Research.
- Warren replies to KarenLegitimate charities would have no reason to constantly change their number. The AICR scammers do so, once their most recently used scamming number has been exposed on sites such as this. Their "annual campaign" is used to fill the pockets of the founders and paid telemarketers! It is used when they run out of money, and would actually have to try to find an honest job!
- Jessica| 1 replyI've been receiving phone calls from this number as well as the following phone extensions very frequently:
202-888-9418 (Caller ID: shows it as Private Caller or Washington D.C)
202-888-9724 (Caller ID: Private Caller)
202-888-9537 (Caller ID: Private Caller)
202-888-9627 (Caller ID: Private Caller)
I am also on the Do Not Call list. Extremely frustrating! - Warren replies to JessicaAll of the numbers that are bothering you (and the rest of us) belong to The American Institute For Cancer Research (AICR), a purported "charity" thus exempt from the do not call list. Don't be fooled by these scammers, who give little or anything to charity. They have one of the very lowest ratings of any charity, and divert funds away from legitimate charities--plus they are also perpetual pests!
- r guido| 1 replyhow do I stop them?
- Caller: AICR
- Peter replies to r guidoHow to stop the American Institute For Cancer Research (AICR) scammers from calling? That's a good question! Apparently from reading various posts concerning them, it appears some people have had some luck by simply answering their call and telling them in rather coarse language they are recognized as a fraud, and not to call again. Maybe it's worth a try???
- Janice CourtneyAmerican Institute for Cancer is a nuisance and calls several times a day from early morning to late at night. At times when they call ( I never answer) they leave my phone line open by not hanging up and then I get a busy signal until I disconnect their call by hanging up my receiver. I want to file a complaint on this firm and this phone number 201-888-9418. This has been going on for months and I am tired of their harassment and abuse of my phone number.

- ANDREWI missed their call at 10am today. just called back at 11:40 am and they "missed my call" ... it went straight to voice-message and said "we will try to reach you again later" and no opportunity to actually leave a message "STOP CALLING ME" ... . Said I could press 1 for more info, but no option to remove myself from their calling list.

Very low rating for charities (20 out of possible 70 points and ZERO stars) ... less than 33% of the money raised (almost $25 million) actually went towards their stated objective, and over half the money raised goes towards "fundraising" expenses.- Caller: American Institute For Cancer Research
