"May" called, claiming to be a publishing consultant.

My brother who is a poet/writer recieved a call from this number. He said the person said he is calling from a swedish publishing company

I received a call from this number and the connection was poor. I'm a writer from Botswana in Africa and it makes sense that this number seems to call writers

I got a call from this number. The person called thrice and when I try to call him/her back. There was no response.

Is this really a publishing company? because they keep calling me too.

I wrote to poetry publishers and I think thats where they got my number from.

It probably isnt legitimate is it?

This is the numbe for Xlibris I think. They are publishers, but they make most of their money fro writers. So if you want to spend money to get your book published, please pick up the phone!

I just received it too this afternoon! I'm in Indonesia. I didn't hear clearly because I'm on a hard traffic jam and it was too noisy. I tried to connect later but no respon.

Btw, months ago I got the call from local cell phone number, same tone woman voice with this afternoon, speak unclearly and saying about my email I think.

I just received too. I'm also in Indonesia so i can't hear it very well. But the thing that i heard clearly just that they asked me if i have a book.
But, think again... i also got a phone call that spoke about my email, but it's so long ago about two years ago maybe...

Well im not writting a book or anything like that i have not answered the call as im at work when this is happening constantely and its so annoying i wish they would bugger off

I have spoken to these guys previously on behalf of a client who got suckered. Technically these guys are not breaking the law, but it is not a good financial deal. Plus once they get their hooks into you ("Hey, bro, we got a live one!") it is VERY hard to make them leave you alone.

In my case - I told them my client had signed a contract with me, I'm the publisher and I had already done a more lucrative deal for epublishing with another company.

They just tried calling me again - call dropped out within 2 seconds. They tried again within 60 seconds. Same story.

Before you deal with these guys, do your homework as a writer. Look at the other choices you have. Talk to other writers and writing groups. Don't get scammed or exploited!

I just want to know who this caller is and where they come from for I already have a stalker and think it might be him.
