SW - 23 Jun 2008Called at 3:15 PM, SouthWestern Ontario...when I Googled the 203 area code, it said it was out of Conneticut...what would someone from Conneticut think they can do for me in friggin Canada??!!! I hate these people...oh, btw, I didn't even say hello, I just picked up heard silence, and hung up...

No call - 7 Jul 2008Hi It's a recorded message about small business grants offered in ontario & Quebec...However, at the end of the call the recorded voice advises to enter your 10 digit telephone number should you wish to be removed from their call list. I would not suggest doing this as sometimes it's a way for the calle to piggy back on your telephone line & make long distance calls. I work in the call center industry and we read about fraud like this frequently

MzHope - 25 Jun 2008I got this call too and never answered it, but looked it up on the net, and found it comes from a church called St Andrews in CT. Prolly yet another phone scam, them wanting us to donate money, i am tired of these telemarketer donate money calls. Im in Alberta.

E - 1 Sep 2008I received the call. I had to wait for a while, then an automated message talks about some grants for small business. They provide you with a phone number to call if you are interested 613-686-1157. Like a will call....
I found this on an other site: "The guy's name behind this scam is Mark Byrne (could be an alias). His 'office' is located at 1500 Bank Street, Suite 425, Ottawa, Ontario K1H 1B8 (a strip mall) and he is operating as 'Small Business Funding'. The scam works like this: He spoofs (forges) his Caller Identification (CID) number to display '(203) 372-4819' which reverse-traces to St-Andrew's Church in Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA. In reality, his real phone number is (613) 686-1157 and he uses a call centre at (800) 663-8525 and another in Lachine, Quebec with a fax (514) 633-8974 to answer his incoming calls.
If you receive a phone call from this scumbag, simply provide the aforementioned information to the Ontario Provincial Police and request that they lay criminal charges against Mr. Byrne (or whatever his real name is) as spoofing or forging a CID number in Canada is a criminal offense."

gaby - 27 Jun 2008I answered the phone and there was nothing at first. I dialed "0" and ten seconds later, a french recorded message talked about an offer and left a phone number in the 613 area code. I didn't have time to write it down.

makgroom - 27 Jun 2008Everyday, twice a day....computer generated....that's why you hear nothing when you answer...it takes a few seconds for the computer to notify a live person to pick up. So, I started with pressing # sign about ten times and it seems to disconnect the line...haven't heard back since.
