Caller asked by name for a member of the household, then informed that person that their checking information was publicly available somewhere on an internet list. The caller then asked the household member to take out their checkbook. This is when I picked up the phone to listen to the conversation. I heard in a foreign accent, a middle-aged female say very much without confidence along the lines of "well... yeah... it--it's very important that you get off this list! you know? so..." at which point I spoke up and asked "excuse me, who's calling?". Upon hearing my voice, the caller immediately hung up the phone. I do not know what the point of having the household member take out their checkbook was, but I suspect international fraud/identity theft, and will be reporting it to the police.
