- ManBearPigCall made to my cell phone around Happy Hour (for me) on Saturday. Call was dumped by my cell phone because the # is not in my contact list.
First report of this # in 800notes database but others have received annoyance calls that have been recorded in other databases. - notsomuchSame here. Called, left no message.
- JeffI answer'd this number. My phone ID'd as coming from Alexandria, Egypt.
On the other end was lady saying she was calling regarding my prescription for Viagra and Cialis. I laughed really hard, told her I was a young and healthy man I didn't require such materials. She politely apologised and ended the phone call.
Very strange operation. - AngieA guy with an Indian accent called my number (in Spain) saying his name was Jonathan and he was calling about my computer. I politely commented that Jonathan was an unusual name for someone with an Indian accent and told him I don't have a computer....he hung up!
- MaríaHi!
I received the same call than Angie. An Indian guy, this case called Jhon Smith(I also watched Pocahontas!), saying all the time that he works for Microsoft and, on his own words: that my computer is in danger. When I picked up the phone he called me "man", very strange for a formal context. Then I told him that if he keeps calling I'll call the police, and he hung up. Today I saw another call from him, the forth on 2 days. - María| 1 replyThey just called me again, today, John Smith works for Windows. He hung up when I said this to him! I'm not sure what is the swindle, if someone knows, please, explain it to me! I won't pick up again, but I'd love to know what do they do.
Regards. - PabloSomebody call me in english to my spanish phone, with a bad accent. He told me about my computer is infected and spreading virus all over the world through internet. This strange man is suposed to work for Microsoft. All the information is confused, so I told him, dont worry, I will desinfect my PC and of course I hung up the phone. I will contact my National Police Department to make a report.
- not Michael replies to MaríaYou are right, its a swindle. There are many people running the same swindle, and they are calling from many different phone numbers.
If you cooperate with him he'll tell you what to type to give him access to your computer. He'll say he's scanning for viruses and other malware. The computer display will be pretty impressive to those of us with limited computer skills. The caller will say it shows all the viruses on your computer but he is lying. The display actually shows normal stuff.
He'll offer to remove all viruses and malware for a fee which you have to pay right now, just give him your credit card number. But he won't remove anything. He will install malware. That malware will download all of the remembered passwords for all of your on-line banking. It will download all of your contacts so he can try to scam them next. He may "zombie" your computer so he can use it to make DDoS attacks or send spam. He'll empty all of your bank accounts, try to scam your friends, and generally make trouble in your name.
Congratulations on not falling for it. And thank you for reporting it here.
