A Melvin ? Claims to be from the irs tax audit and that a procedure starting against me for tax evasion, call this number before its get to federal court so I won't be arrested or something like that. Hard to understand, has a strong accent.

Just got this call....answered.....silence for about 15 seconds then hung up

Got the same call message same name left with a heavy accent same as GMOM...figure it to be a scam also...will try to call that number back (from another number) and see what I get and see who may pick up. You would usually get a certified letter from IRS or SOMETHING by mail..not a threatening call right off like this...NOT the way IRS usually works. But it is unsettling and scary for sure to get a threat like this by phone message..I recently had a heart attack and felt it right off in my chest wondering what this was all about? I got it early morning at 8:00am. and I see these other notations about this same caller all come in Aug. 12, 13, etc. Interesting its all the same time.

Hope all of these searchers leaving a blog message will return to see how this Melvin is moving forward in contacting more people.

My family back home got a call from this person this morning. A lady, allegedly named "Jennifer Smith" calling about "a problem with my taxes." Just like Lillycat is was about 8am. Clearly a scam.

Just got the same call. Man with a heavy foreign accent who was difficult to understand stating he was 'Melvin with the Tax Audit Department with a Notification.'  He Mumbled and was difficult to understand, but understood he said,  'Before this matter gets into the local claims courts you need to call and get more information you can call 1-203-701-1071.' Kinda scary. Didn't call. Looked up number and found your messages. EastTexas

I received the same voicemail this morning (8/13) from "Melvin".  I received same type of messages in April 2014 (but from a different phone number) and reported it to phishing@irs.gov and filed a TIGTA complaint.

Same as EastTexan.  Heavy accented Melvin from the Tax Audit Dept. of the IRS.  Supposed to call him back before case goes to Federal Court.

Got two calls from this number. First time we picked up and had a certain Mark Smith ( with an Indian accent ???  :) ) on the line ,we allegedly misfiled taxes over a period of 5 years and were threatened with court and jail if we did not pay him. When we asked to send us documents first and told him we would contact a lawyer and go to court to settle this he hung up. Got second call from that Melvin Belcheck same day. Did not pick up and he left a message imposing as an IRS agent again. Was this a follow up call to make us believe this was real or did they not know from each other they called the same number ?
Reported this to the TIGTA and the Federal Trade Commission. Reported to the local police as well, they told me they were aware the calls happened, did not ask for specifics though like the phone # they were calling from. Wondering how serious they are taking this. Hope word gets around and not more people fall for this scam

Just received a call from this number telling me that I was being targeted by the IRS in a criminal case.  She then told me I needed to contact a criminal attorney.  Did I know one?  I responded that I did not receive any paperwork in the mail.  She insisted that I contact a criminal attorney.  I responded that I would wait for paperwork to come in the mail.  She hung up at that point.

Within the past 2 days received 6 calls from this # 203-701-1071...same thing, thick accent and IRS problems.  They were looking for a lady named Ruth - obviously my name is not Ruth, but like a dummy, I called them back and asked them to remove my # from their list cuz they had the wrong #.  I gave them my cell # (like I said, like a dummy).  Hopefully they won't be able to scam me using my cell phone #.

Receive the same message from "Melvin Belchik" just now in Berkeley, CA. Said to call back at 203-701-1071. Definitely a scam, so do not call this number.

Yes, always Google situations that are suspect, and found out it was. Melvin Belchick threatening message. What ever happened to the do not call list, same old government letdown

I also have been receiving these calls. I am glad I thought to look the number up, because I was about to cave, and pay the "IRS" for their payment before it went to court. They have been harassing me in a big way. Now, I'm fu***** angry! This is ridiculous. They've called me from 3 separate numbers. All of them say the same thing. Same accent, guys name was Frank Martin though.

At 9 am this morning I also got this same phone call...said I needed to respond to the outstanding tax issues before they come and arrests me

I rec'd the same call this morning from 203-701-1071concerning the IRS.  Thank goodness I checked the number out before returning the call.

Melvin left 2 messages on my phone.  Same thing as above...that if I didn't call back that I would be arrested and my case would go to federal court with a red flag against my social security number.  It's very reassuring being able to quickly see that this is a scam.  Thanks all you above who shared.  :)

Melvin called me this morning too - wow, are we ALL committing Tax Fraud? (grin) I never answer these calls, come here to read the comments instead!
