This phone number is calling to do fund raising for the Connecticut State Fraternal Order of Police. I have called the number.  It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the FOP. Also, there’s information on www.ctstatefop.com, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
The FOP is doing a lot of really great things for Connecticut police officers and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good.

Another fake police charity announced by snow.  Flush your money down the toilet instead, at least it won't go to crooks like these.

Stop calling me.....I do not give to charities who spend their money on fundraising and do not stop even when consistently no one answers.Have you heard of caller I.D?

    fine
This is not a Charity! They take as much as 90% of the donation for their own profit and maybe the FOP gets whats left over. It they don't make there goals then they don't pay and its consittered a loss. So if the Fund raiser group Brings in $10,000,000 per year then the FOP gets more than they had if they didn't do this. But if the goal was $10,000,001 then the FOP gets nada. If you choose to do this at least know that most of your money goes to Slim buckets who are conning you out out of your hard earned cash.

I had found this number on my caller ID quite a few times, and everytime I play what should be a message; they put some kind of feedback on the machine.  It seems like it's a retaliation for not taking the call and no wonder; from the earlier posts I've seen they are just a fraud.

The callers are PAID "fundraisers" (telemarketers)  who make a cut on the contributions they pull in, not law enforcement officers. They are hired to call to collect money for the unions.  And even then, only a small percentage goes to the police.
I let them know that I will only contribute directly to the organization and NOT through a fundraising organization that takes a cut of my money for themselves.

Check with your local State Troopers barracks or local Police Station (>>>not<<< on 911) before donating a dime to the organization calling from this telephone number.

What bothers me is five things:
    1)  CT FOP hired Corporations for Character, is a "for profit" telemarketer who does not respect the  "National Do Not Call Phone Registry"
    2)  CT FOP did the same thing back in 1997 when your organization used the paid solicitor, Civic Development Group of Hopelawn, NJ, who fined once by the Connecticut Attorney General's Office.
    3)  in 1997 contract, CTFOP only received 15 percent of the money collected in its name.  Where the remaining 85 percent will be kept by this for-profit Civic Development Group.
    4) current contract with "Corporations for Character" has less than 30% going to CT FOP.  Vast bulk of CT FOP remaining finances are for Management.
    5) CT FOP did not give out any scholarships in 2009 nor 2010 (as of October).

    Lying Police Officers
CT FOP states on its website "We no longer use professional solicitors to make these calls, and 100% of every donation goes directly to the CT FOP"

So when is the Utah Telemarketer named "Corporation for Character" lying about being hired by the "CT FOP" ?

what facts can you share replies to snow
Exactly what does the CT FOP do?  What is its stated mission and what is its goverance & audit process?  In 1997, the last time CT State Attnry General looked into CT FOP, less than 5% of donated funds went to the stated mission.  Why have no scholarships have been granted in the past two years?

These calls are from the CT Fraternal Order of Police, and they are calls asking for donations. I have received multiple calls from them, and just have not answered as I did not know what CT FOP means. Today, I called the number back and a message states that the organization is the CT Fraternal Order of Police. You are prompted to press a number if you would like to be added to the "do not call" list. I did that. A confirmation message said that this would be processed within the next 72 hours. I suggest doing this if you would like the calls to stop.
