- SPAM| 5 repliesSPAM. Give up people. I don't want anything you have to offer and I assure you calling me multiple times a day, everyday and from different #'s isn't going to change my mind.
I will celebrate the day the government finally steps up and throws you sorry a$$'es in jail. I will visit you and throw scraps of food through the bars into your cages. - BirdieAnn from Account Services has invented a new phone number.
- EnoughThe simple solution to stop them is to IGNORE them!!! when they call from one of the 20
+ numbers they use, do not talk to them. I tryed everything from answering , telling them off,
reporting them to everyone, but the best solution is when they call do this; Quickly answer and
hang up . Do not say a word. The machine calling you is waiting for a voice to answer. If it
does not get one, it does not know if your number is real or not. I went from 20 calls a week,
to 2 a week doing this. Never say a word . Just quickly answer and hang up. This will work.- Caller: idiots
- JenniferEven ignoring the calls (I block the # so my phone doesn't ring), these pos just change #'s and come after us again. While blowing an airhorn, whistle, or anything else into the phone may not stop the harassment, it is a way to vent frustration. These are one of the lowest forms of vermin on the planet and the sooner they are gone, the better. If you are creative and not bothered by gore, then follow a friends example. Tell them in detail what you want to do to them, what you want to see done to them, or other explicit promises. It may or may not stop the calls completely, but it does seem to slow or stop them for a while.
They are the aggressors and deserve every noise, crude word, or anything else the victims do or say. Personally, I am hoping a sinkhole will swallow the building they are in, thus eliminating an entire colony in one beautiful act of nature.- Caller: card services
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Joe K replies to SPAMThe sooner the better
- paulrecieve several calls a day from different numbers, this being one of them
- JoAnn Corbett| 1 replySick of them calling me so I asked him to take me off thier call list and I was hung up on! I get these same calls 10 + times a day. I am on the federal do not call list yet they still call.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- ShannonAfter years of internet without Facebook I recently signed up and BAM do I ever get these calls now. Before facebook I got very few hmmmm ...
- kennumerous calls from this # to my cell phone
- marc| 4 repliesSee the message below that summarizes the issue.
I can add
The cell phone companies really do not want these calls to stop; they benefit from this illegal activity as well, and they have NO liability.- Caller: who knows. and the number is likely spoofed
- Conspiracy Theory replies to marc| 3 repliesWhy can't something be done about these calls?
Let us take a look at a few things that might influence the inability to stop these calls.
Caller ID:
1). Your phone company is charging you a fee for Caller ID. Your phone company pays the scammer for sending their Caller ID information. Your phone company pays only a fraction of a cent per call and you pay your phone company to have the Caller ID displayed. The scammers send out millions of calls which amounts to a significant amount of money however your phone company is charging a large amount to millions of customers.
Result: This generates more money for your phone company.
Call blocking:
1). I personally use Verizon Wireless which allows me to block 5 numbers for 90 days, unless I pay them an additional premium fee which will allow blocking 10 numbers.
Result: This generates more money for your phone company.
2). Upgrade my simple non data flip phone to a smart phone and add in data, download an app that will block calls. Since they have called me using more than 160 unique numbers in the last year, this would seem to be the only option.
Result: This generates more money for your phone company.
This may have something to do with the phone companies inability to stop these calls.
The banking system:
1). The banking system is also at fault here, without merchant accounts and ACH processing these criminals could not collect the scammed funds. Though the criminals use obfuscation, layered corporations, multiple bank accounts and offshore stashing, patterns of obvious fraudulent activity become apparent after a short time.
Result: The fees generated means more money for the banks.
This may have something to do with the banks inability to stop these criminals.
The FCC, FTC and Do Not Call registry:
1). The FTC is only allowed to collect fines, not impose criminal penalties. These companies hide their money in overseas bank accounts and claim that they can't pay the fines.
Civil action by the FTC against such criminals is totally ineffective. These criminals need to be charged with Federal Felonies and subjected to significant prison time. All of those involved know that they are violating FTC regulations. The FTC levies huge fines, then rescinds them based on inability to pay. The FTC settles for the minimal cash on hand, and enjoins them from future telemarketing. The criminals sign off, then go right back to business as usual. These same people under different companies have been sued in the past and have only paid a minimal fine.
Result: The FTC and FCC basically are saying 'Naughty - naughty, now go out and play nice'.
Solution: Take away government funding for the FTC and FCC. If they want to impose fines then make them self sufficient and use the fines for their operating budget.
Why hasn't the FBI used the RICO act and gone after these organizations? On October 15, 1970, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (18 U.S.C. §§ 1961–1968), commonly referred to as the 'RICO Act', became United States law. The RICO Act allowed law enforcement to charge a person or group of people with racketeering, defined as committing multiple violations of certain varieties within a ten-year period. The purpose of the RICO Act was stated as 'the elimination of the infiltration of organized crime and racketeering into legitimate organizations operating in interstate commerce'. S.Rep. No. 617, 91st Cong., 1st Sess. 76 (1968). However, the statute is sufficiently broad to encompass illegal activities relating to any enterprise affecting interstate or foreign commerce. - MHallI've added phone number after phone number to my blocked call list for my cell and the very next day they call using a different phone number. So frustrating. This is the most recent number to call me.

- BAILEYRec'd a call from 203-998-7000-I did not answer the call but they keep on calling. Added this one to a long list and will be sending to the Attorney General's Office in Louisiana

- Marco from MASS replies to SPAM| 1 replyOnce you are on these [***]'s list, you cant get off.
I installed a call blocker called NumberBlock on my android. If a spam call comes in, the app simply hangs up.
However, if you're really upset and want to vent, take it out on the telemarketer. They chose to be part of this criminal and unethical company. Shame on them and feel free to say anything you want. They called you.
"you must be fat because you can't work in public" is a good line
"and just how ugly are you princess"
"did you graduate from the first grade as you have a job fit for a monkey"
"you need a computer to dial my number because you don't yet have that skill"
"you're too stupid to get a job at McDonalds"
the best is to go through with the call and say yes, i want to do this. Then tell the agent you wallet is in the car and you'll be right back. Wait about 5 mins and return saying you're still looking and definitely want to proceed. Then wait a while more until the agent is yelling into the phone looking for you. I then come back to the phone laughing telling them what a stupid loser they are.
Basically, I make every attempt to bring the telemarketer to tears while laughing at them.Maybe some will quit. Maybe one of them will become enraged and take it out on their bosses and fellow employees. I'd love to see that on the news.
The FCC is a paper tiger...nothing there.
Don't threaten them or use any racial slurs...they record every call. - Gary replies to SPAMI received a call from 203-998-7000 yesterday and on numerous occasions in the past. I went out yesterday on the internet and downloaded a free app "Mr Number" to my Android smart phone. I placed this number along with a few other numbers that seem to be spam also.
I just received a call that "Mr Number" blocked and hung up on. It worked great. I can see who all the blocked numbers that try to call my number. Recommend "Mr Number".......check it out on Google apps! - FedUpToo replies to Conspiracy TheoryWhat member of government can we contact to propose stricter legislation?
Congressman? Senator etc? - TulsaTime| 1 replyI have found a tactic that seems to work well. Any phone number that comes into my phone that is not recognized by me is answered
"FBI Fraud Division".
The line goes silent really quick.
The number of Spam calls has slowed and I'm having fun giving them a heart attack when they do call. I even called one number back and got an answering machine so I left a message that I was with the FBI Fraud Division and had been receiving calls from this number and we would be in touch with them later.
I don't know if there is actually a FBI Fraud Division, but crooks aren't the smartest cookies in the jar so it seems to work fine. - Jennifer replies to Conspiracy TheoryThank you for all of that info, they are calling more and more everyday, at least 3 times in the morning.
